*Serving the People, Seeking Truth from Facts, and Maintaining Integrity: A Study Manual for Practicing the Party's Mass Line* [1] Published

The mass line [1] is the fundamental work-line of the Party, and is our Party’s correct method of leadership and work. On the occasion of the deployment and launch of the Party's mass line educational practice activities, the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) organized experts to compile the book For the People, Pragmatic, and Upright: Practicing the Party’s Mass Line Study Reader, which was published by Red Flag Press in June 2013.

The report to the 18th National Congress of the CPC proposed: "Focusing on maintaining the Party’s advanced nature and purity, we must carry out in-depth activities throughout the Party to study and practice the Party’s mass line, with 'serving the people, pragmatism, and uprightness' as the primary content. We must focus on resolving prominent problems that the people feel strongly about and improve our ability to do mass work under new circumstances."

For the People, Pragmatic, and Upright: Practicing the Party’s Mass Line Study Reader comprises four sections: "Basic Theory and Fundamental Thought of the Mass Line," "Fine Traditions and Experiences for Reference in Implementing the Mass Line," "New Issues and New Challenges Affecting Party-Mass Relations Under New Circumstances," and "Basic Requirements for Carrying Out and Implementing the Mass Line." These are further subdivided into 100 key thematic topics, which scientifically and systematically expound upon core content such as the Party’s mass line, mass viewpoint [2], and the new challenges in mass work [3] during the New Era. The book provides a beneficial reference for the broad ranks of Party members and cadres to study and practice the Party’s mass line. This book was organized and compiled by Deng Chundong, Party Committee Secretary of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, with the participation of eleven scholars from the Institute of Marxism Studies.
