On March 21, the first meeting of the Editorial Board of Marxist Studies (Makezhuyishi Yanjiu) was convened. The meeting was presided over by Jin Huiming. Attendees included Cheng Enfu, Li Chongfu, Wu Enyuan, Hou Huiqin, Xia Chuntao, Hu Leming, Liu Shuchun, Luo Wendong, Feng Yanli, and all members of the editorial department. Cheng Enfu announced the roster of the Editorial Board for Marxist Studies: Li Chongfu was appointed Honorary Editor-in-Chief, Cheng Enfu as Editor-in-Chief, and Wu Bo as Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Jin Huiming was appointed Chairperson of the Editorial Board, with Cheng Enfu, Li Chongfu, Wu Enyuan, and Hou Huiqin serving as Vice Chairpersons. The members of the Editorial Board include (listed by stroke count of their surnames): Feng Yanli, Liu Shuchun, Li Chongfu, Wu Enyuan, Wu Bo, Zhao Zhikui, Luo Wendong, Hou Huiqin, Hu Leming, Xia Chuntao, Cheng Enfu, and Jin Huiming.

On April 21, Comrade Zhang Dejiang, after carefully reviewing the general report on the Guangdong research project, issued an important instruction regarding the work of the task force, particularly the general report: "I thank Comrade Kuiyuan, Comrade Leng Rong, and the comrades of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Guangdong task force for their support of the work in Guangdong. I approve of the overall framework of the research report; the investigation was deep and the results are significant." He concurrently provided suggestions for further revisions to the research report. He also commissioned Liang Guiquan, President of the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences and head of this task force, to convey his gratitude.

On April 26, Comrade Chen Kuiyuan issued an important instruction regarding the work of the Guangdong research task force: "Complete this collaborative project with earnest responsibility, so as not to fall short of the high expectations of Comrade Dejiang and the Guangdong side."

On June 8, the World Socialism Research Center of CASS, the Institute of Marxism Studies, Social Sciences Academic Press, and the People's Publishing House jointly held the "2006 World Socialism Yellow Book Launch and Seminar on the Latest Trends in World Socialism and Capitalism." The narrative script for the eight-episode educational reference film Staying Alert in Times of Peace: Historical Lessons from the Soviet Communist Party's Loss of Power [1], which caused a significant stir in society, was included in the 2006 World Socialism Yellow Book. Nearly 200 people attended the meeting, including leaders, veteran comrades, and renowned experts and scholars from CASS, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Xinhua News Agency, the Central Party School, the Ministry of Education, the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau, the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee, Qiushi magazine, the National Defence University, the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University, Fudan University, Sichuan University, and Nanjing Audit University. Attendees included Zheng Keyang, Li Shenming, Huang Haotao, Yang Ke, Zhang Guozuo, Liu Runwei, He Bingmeng, Cheng Enfu, Wu Enyuan, Li Chongfu, Xu Chongwen, Huang Hong, Li Xinggeng, Li Qiqing, Wu Xiongcheng, Jiang Shuxian, Li Bingyan, He Ganqiang, and Chen Xueming.

On August 21, Wang Suyue, Director of the Personnel Bureau of CASS, arrived at the Institute of Marxism Studies to announce appointments: Comrade Zhang Zuying was appointed Vice President of the Institute of Marxism Studies, Comrade Luo Wendong as Director of the Second Department of Chinese Marxism Research (deputy bureau level), and Comrade Liu Shuchun as Director of the Department of the History of the International Communist Movement (deputy bureau level). Cadres at or above the level of department head within the Institute of Marxism Studies attended the meeting.

On the afternoon of August 28, President Cheng Enfu presided over an administrative meeting of the Institute of Marxism Studies. Wu Enyuan, Hou Huiqin, and the heads of various research departments and functional offices attended. The meeting discussed regulations regarding the annual assessment of research personnel and the job responsibilities of the heads of research departments and research offices.

From October 20 to 21, the academic seminar "Tracing the Xibaipo Journey, Implementing the Spirit of the 17th Party Congress" [2] was held at the Xibaipo Memorial Hall. The seminar was hosted by the Institute of Marxism Studies of CASS and organized by Hebei Normal University and the Xibaipo Memorial Hall.

On October 23, the Division of Marxist Studies and the Institute of Marxism Studies of CASS held a forum to earnestly study and profoundly grasp the spirit of the 17th Party Congress of the CPC, exploring how to strengthen theoretical and policy innovation under the guidance of the report of the 17th Party Congress. Leng Rong, Cheng Enfu, Jin Huiming, and Li Chongfu delivered keynote speeches. The meeting was presided over by Cheng Enfu. More than 100 experts and scholars from CASS, the Central Party School, the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and other research institutions and universities participated in the forum.

On November 6, eight organizations—including the World Socialism Research Center of CASS, the Institute of Marxism Studies, the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies, the Institute of World History, the journal Social Sciences in China, Sichuan University, the Chinese Association for Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies, and the Chinese Society for Soviet and Eastern European History Research—jointly held an academic seminar in Beijing titled "The October Revolution and the Contemporary Socialist Path: Studying the Spirit of the 17th Party Congress and Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the October Revolution." Over 200 scholars and leaders attended, including representatives from the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee, Xinhua News Agency, the Central Party School, the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau, CASS, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, and other research and teaching units nationwide. Notable attendees included Zhang Quanjing, Jin Chongji, Zheng Keyang, Sha Jiansun, Li Shenming, Zhu Jiamu, Ru Xin, Wu Jiemin, Yang Ke, Zhang Guozuo, Jin Huiming, Li Jingjie, He Bingmeng, Wu Enyuan, Chen Zhihua, Yu Pei, Tian Xinming, Xing Guangcheng, Yu Sui, Liu Shulin, Wang Zhengquan, Xu Chongwen, Zhou Xincheng, Wu Yuzhang, Huang Jinhui, and Zhang Jianhua.

From November 10 to 11, the first "National Forum of Deans of Marxism," jointly sponsored by the Division of Marxist Studies of CASS, the Institute of Marxism Studies, and Fujian Normal University, was held at Fujian Normal University. More than 40 deans, experts, and scholars engaged in the teaching and research of Marxist theoretical disciplines from CASS, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, as well as leading comrades from the Publicity Department of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Department of Education, were invited to attend the forum. Cheng Enfu, President of the Institute of Marxism Studies and Director of the Division of Marxist Studies, presided over the meeting and delivered the opening and closing remarks. Zhang Zuying, Vice President of the Institute of Marxism Studies, attended and delivered a speech.
