Xin Xiangyang: Deepening Marxist Research in the New Era Requires Five Greater Emphases
Xin Xiangyang, the former President of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), has proposed a practical path defined by "five greater emphases":
First, a greater emphasis must be placed on deep inquiry into the scientific nature and truth of Marxism to consolidate its theoretical foundations. Second, there must be a greater emphasis on the systematic study of classical works, ensuring that the development of the discipline of Marxism is built upon the solid basis of deep engagement with the classics. Third, there must be a greater emphasis on taking the Party's innovative theories as an entry point to accurately grasp the essence and core meaning of the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism. Fourth, a greater emphasis must be placed on the critical examination and organization of literature and historical materials related to the history of Marxist development, so as to clarify the historical pulse of theoretical evolution. Fifth, there must be a greater emphasis on the study of the history and theory of world communist parties; through this, one can appreciate the magnificent developmental process and profound influence of Marxism on a global scale, and thereby more deeply understand the brilliant prospects for the vigorous development of 21st-century Marxism.
