The academic symposium titled "International Communist Movement: History and Reality" was held in Beijing. To profoundly understand General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of discourses on socialism since the 18th National Congress [1], to explore in depth the laws of development of the international communist movement, to scientifically grasp the current status and trends of world socialism, and to advance the disciplinary construction and theoretical research of the international communist movement—thereby providing references and inspirations for socialism with Chinese characteristics—the Department of International Communist Movement of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) hosted the "International Communist Movement: History and Reality" academic symposium on September 24. Li Shenming, a research fellow and director of the CASS World Socialism Research Center, delivered the keynote speech. Research fellow Wang Xuedong, Deputy Director of the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau and President of the Chinese Society for the History of the International Communist Movement, and research fellow Fan Jianxin, Deputy Dean of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, delivered opening remarks. Liu Shuchun, research fellow and director of the Department of International Communist Movement at the Institute of Marxism Studies, presided over the opening ceremony. More than 60 experts and scholars from nearly 20 institutions—including CASS, the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Party School, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Shandong University, and Central China Normal University—participated in the symposium. Media outlets including the People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and the Chinese Social Sciences Today (Zhongguo Shehui Kexue Bao) reported on the meeting.

The participating scholars engaged in in-depth discussions focused on the theme of "International Communist Movement: History and Reality," addressing topics such as the laws of development, lessons from experience, and implications of the international communist movement; the current status and prospects of foreign Communist Parties and other socialist forces; the relationship between socialism with Chinese characteristics and world socialism; and the disciplinary construction of the international communist movement.
