"Studies on Marxism" Convened the 2013 Enlarged Editorial Board Meeting

The Editorial Board of Marxism Studies (Makezhuyishi Yanjiu) convened an expanded meeting in Beijing on July 1, 2013. In addition to the board members from the Institute of Marxism Studies [1], external board members and experts including He Bingmeng, Wu Li, Zhang Shuhua, Wu Enyuan, Zhang Shunhong, Zhou Suyuan, Tian Xinming, Hao Lixin, and Bai Xueqiu attended the session. The meeting was presided over by Li Chongfu, Director of the Editorial Board.

Zhai Shengming, Director of the Editorial Office, reported on the work of Marxism Studies for the year 2012, highlighting the prominent characteristics of the journal’s columns and articles during that period. Simultaneously, he reported on the academic evaluations and social impact achieved by the publication:

  1. According to the 2012 statistics for reprint volume and rates from "Information Center for Social Sciences" [2], Marxism Studies ranked first in both total full-text reprints and reprint rates among journals in the discipline of Marxist theory. In the thematic reprint rankings across all journals, articles reprinted from Marxism Studies ranked fourth in the sub-topic of "Marxist-Leninist Philosophy," first in "Marxist-Leninist Studies," and first in "Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics."

  2. In 2012, the journal was designated an "RCCSE Chinese Authoritative Academic Journal" by the China Academic Journal Evaluation Committee and the Research Center for Chinese Science Evaluation at Wuhan University.

  3. In 2012, the journal was among the first group to receive funding from the National Social Science Fund of China.

  4. In March of this year, the Ministry of Education announced the winners of the "Sixth Outstanding Achievement Awards for Scientific Research in Higher Education Institutions (Humanities and Social Sciences, 2008–2010)." A total of four papers from Marxism Studies received awards, consisting of two second-prize awards and two third-prize awards.
