Liu Qibao, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department, Inspects the Academy of Marxism
On the afternoon of May 27, Comrade Liu Qibao, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and Head of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, visited the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) for a research inspection. During the inspection, Liu Qibao visited the Institute of Marxism Studies.
At 3:00 p.m., Deng Chundong and other leaders of the Institute of Marxism Studies (CASS) met Comrade Liu Qibao on the 13th floor. Accompanied by Wang Weiguang—Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of CASS—Liu Qibao shook hands and exchanged greetings with the personnel of the Institute who had gathered to welcome him, inquiring about the work conditions of the young researchers. He then proceeded to the office of the Academic Division Members [1] to engage in a cordial exchange with Research Fellow Li Chongfu, a member of the Academic Division.
In the conference room of the Institute of Marxism Studies, Deng Chundong introduced each of the directors and deputy directors of the Institute's various research departments to Comrade Liu Qibao. Liu Qibao delivered a brief speech to the group, giving full affirmation to the work of CASS and the Institute of Marxism Studies. He encouraged everyone to further improve their work in accordance with the requirements of the "Three Positionings" [2], to center their efforts closely on advancing the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and to conduct theoretical research that makes a greater contribution to the decision-making services of the Party Central Committee and the State Council.
Accompanying Liu Qibao on the inspection were leaders from the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, including Executive Vice Minister Luo Shugang, Vice Minister Wang Xiaohui, and Deputy Secretary-General Chen Yonggang; CASS leaders including Wang Weiguang, Zhao Shengxuan, Li Shenming, Li Yang, and Huang Haotao; as well as leaders of CASS functional bureaus, including Shi He’an and Wang Weidong of the General Office, and Liu Fuqing of the Service Bureau.
Deng Chundong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies, accompanied Comrade Liu Qibao during the inspection and provided an introduction to the Institute's situation; Vice President Zhang Zuying also accompanied the visit. Directors and deputy directors of various research departments, Qin Yicheng from the Marx Project [3] Office, Liu Zixu from International Critical Thought [4], and all staff from the Institute's administrative offices, as well as personnel from some research and editorial departments, participated in the welcoming and reception work.
