The Academy of Marxism Holds a Seminar on Studying the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee

On the afternoon of November 19, 2013, the Institute of Marxism Studies held a seminar to study the spirit ^[1] of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee ^[2]. The meeting was presided over by Comrade Deng Chundong, Party Secretary and Director of the Institute of Marxism Studies, and was attended by more than 100 staff members of the Institute.

Exchange speeches were delivered at the meeting by Professor Hu Leming, Director of the Department of Marxist Principles; Researcher Jin Minqing, head of the Department of Sinicization of Marxism; Researcher Xin Xiangyang, head of the Department of the Development of Marxism; Researcher Liu Shuchun, Director of the Department of the International Communist Movement; Researcher Feng Yanli, head of the Department of Foreign Marxism; and Associate Senior Editor Liu Dezhong of the Marxism Studies editorial department, representing the Journal and Network Center.

Deng Chundong pointed out that following the convening of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee, everyone had conducted timely study in accordance with the requirements of the Party Committee. Based on today's speeches, everyone has basically grasped the spiritual essence of the Plenum’s "Decision" ^[3] and has gained a relatively profound understanding of the significance and general layout of comprehensively deepening reform.

Deng Chundong requested that, as the next step, while the Institute’s Party Committee arranges institute-wide study and seminars, each branch should also lose no time in organizing study sessions. The broad ranks of scientific research personnel—especially department leaders and research backbones—must, on the basis of in-depth study, carry out the work of interpreting and publicizing the Plenum's "Decision" through the writing of theoretical articles and academic reports, so as to actively project the voice of the Institute of Marxism Studies.
