On September 18, Dean and Party Committee Secretary Deng Chundong unveiled the Tongren Research Base

At 9:30 a.m. on September 18, 2016, the plaque-unveiling ceremony for the Tongren Research Base, jointly established by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Tongren University, was grandly held in Conference Room 8501 of the Tongren University Administration Building. Deng Chundong, Party Committee Secretary and President of the Institute of Marxism Studies of CASS and Senior Research Fellow; Li Shuxin, Party Committee Secretary of Tongren University; Hou Changlin, President and Professor; as well as members of various Party General Branches ^[1] of Tongren University, leaders of functional departments, and faculty members from the School of Marxism attended the ceremony.

In his address, Secretary Li Shuxin of Tongren University stated that the collaborative establishment of the Tongren Research Base with the Institute of Marxism Studies of CASS is a major event in the developmental history of Tongren University. This achievement is not only of great significance for promoting the scientific development ^[2] of Tongren University but also builds a new platform for the construction of ideological and political education disciplines and ideological and political theory courses. Secretary Deng Chundong emphasized in his speech that the base serves as a vehicle connecting the Institute of Marxism Studies of CASS with Tongren University and acts as a platform for multifaceted cooperation. It holds significant value for our Institute in promoting Marxist research to penetrate the grassroots ^[3] and understand grassroots conditions, while consistently adhering to the line of combining theory with practice. Secretary Deng expressed his expectation that the research base’s role must be effectively utilized, research characteristics should be highlighted, and theoretical innovation must be maintained. He urged for the solid construction of the base to serve the Party's central work ^[4] and expressed his sincere wishes for the collaborative base to yield fruitful results soon.

Secretary Deng Chundong and President Hou Changlin of Tongren University jointly unveiled the plaque for the base and signed the "Framework Agreement on the Joint Establishment of the Tongren Research Base between the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Tongren University." Secretary Li Shuxin, Dr. Liu Xukuan, and Vice President Xu Xingling, among others, witnessed the signing. Following the unveiling ceremony, President Hou of Tongren University also presented letters of appointment for visiting professorships to Deng Chundong, Xin Xiangyang, Liu Zhiming, and Liu Zhichang.
