On October 24, Dean and Party Secretary Deng Chundong presided over a report meeting by the General Secretary of the Italian Communist Party
On October 24, 2016, a three-person delegation comprising Mauro Alboresi, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Italy (PCI); Francesco Maringio, a member of the Central Committee; and Andrea Catone, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine Marx Ventisette (21st Century Marx), arrived at the Institute of Marxism Studies (CASS). They were invited by Comrade Deng Chundong, Director and Party Committee Secretary of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The delegation delivered a detailed report covering several themes: the socio-political and economic situation in Europe following the drastic changes in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe [1]; the programmatic platform and foreign policy of the newly reconstituted PCI (re-established in June 2016); and the primary understandings and views held by the Italian Left regarding socialism with Chinese characteristics. All research staff of the Institute of Marxism Studies attended the presentation, engaging in a profound and brilliant exchange of ideas and intellectual friction with the Italian guests.
