On December 23, Dean and Party Secretary Deng Chundong attended and spoke at the Theoretical Symposium between the Communist Parties of China and Vietnam in Vietnam | Marxism Research Network

On December 23, 2016, the 12th Theoretical Symposium between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) was held in Hanoi, centered on the theme "Challenges and Experiences in Strengthening Party Building under Conditions of Opening Up to the Outside World." Liu Qibao, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, along with Phạm Minh Chính, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPV Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee, and head of the Organization Commission of the CPV Central Committee, delivered keynote reports at the opening ceremony. They respectively introduced the practices and experiences of the CPC and the CPV in strengthening their own building.

Deng Chundong, President and Party Committee Secretary of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), participated in the meeting and delivered a speech titled "Improving the Party's Capacity and Level of Leading Economic and Social Development under Complex Situations and Circumstances."
