People’s Daily Online, Moscow, June 9 (Reporter Zhang Xiaodong)—On June 8, the third stop of the international seminar series "The 4th China, Russia, and Central and Eastern Europe Development Strategy Forum" arrived in Moscow, Russia. The theme of this seminar was "Exploring New Models of Socio-Economic Development." This marks the fourth consecutive year since 2014 that the forum has been held in Moscow.
More than 50 scholars from various Chinese research institutes and universities gathered with their Russian counterparts. Co-chaired by Deng Chundong, Director and Party Committee Secretary of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and Elena Lenchuk, Director of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the participants engaged in a spirited discussion. The dialogue centered on the differing models of economic and social development in China and Russia, the influence of the October Revolution [1] on both nations, cooperation between China and Russia within the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative [2] and the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as specific issues faced by each country in their respective development processes. Experts and scholars in attendance agreed that face-to-face exchanges not only enhance mutual understanding between the two countries' academics and allow for more thorough discussions on issues of shared concern, but also provide an excellent model and experience for taking academic exchange beyond national borders [3].
