The 3rd National "General Introduction to the Basic Principles of Marxism" Workshop Held at Shanxi Datong University from August 5 to 11
From August 5 to 11, 2017, the 3rd National Training Seminar for the "Comprehensive Lecture on the Introduction to the Basic Principles of Marxism" was held in the Shanmei Building conference room of our university. The event was hosted by the Department of Marxist Principles of the Institute of Marxism Studies (IMS) at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and organized by the Department of Ideological and Political Education at Shanxi Datong University. Yu Bin, Director of the Department of Marxist Principles at the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, Sun Yan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanxi Datong University, and Zhang Li, Director of the Department of Ideological and Political Education [1] at Shanxi Datong University, attended the opening ceremony. More than 80 teachers from over 40 universities across the country, as well as 15 teachers from the Teaching and Research Office of the Basic Principles of Marxism at our university’s Department of Ideological and Political Education, participated in this training seminar.

Deputy Secretary Sun Yan delivered a welcoming speech, briefly introducing our university’s historical evolution, disciplinary construction, developmental goals, and ideological and political work, while expressing his aspirations for the training seminar. Director Zhang Li introduced the lead lecturer, Yu Bin. Researcher Yu Bin provided relevant explanations regarding the purpose, significance, and content of this seminar. Deputy Secretary Sun Yan presented Researcher Yu Bin with a letter of appointment as a visiting professor.
During the training period, Researcher Yu Bin provided a comprehensive analysis of the textbook Introduction to the Basic Principles of Marxism [2] by interpreting original Marxist works and integrating them with social realities. This enabled the teachers to gain a newer and deeper recognition and understanding of the basic principles of Marxism. It played a positive role in promoting the teachers’ comprehensive mastery of Marxist essentials, their practical grasp of the true essence of Marxism, the effective deepening of their affinity for Marxism, and the further strengthening of their faith in Marxism.
On the evening of the 7th, the teachers held a discussion regarding the teaching conditions of the Introduction to the Basic Principles of Marxism. The teachers expressed their own views and offered insights on teaching "hotspots," points of doubt, focal points, and difficulties. They exchanged opinions on teaching modes, methods, means, and experiences, and proposed suggestions regarding teaching content, problems, confusion, and queries. Through these discussions, each teacher gained their own perceptions and achievements.

At the closing ceremony, teacher representatives Professor Shi Jingying from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics and Professor Tian Haijian from Hebei University shared their learning experiences. Researcher Yu Bin presented the teachers with graduation certificates.
Through Researcher Yu Bin’s profound explanations and meticulous interpretations, this training seminar assisted teachers in correctly understanding Marxist principles and comprehensively improving their Marxist theoretical literacy. It is of great significance for enhancing the focus and effectiveness of ideological and political theory courses [3] in universities.
