The fourth "European Forum on the China Path—China-Europe Cooperation under the 'Belt and Road' Initiative" was held on the 6th in the historic Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela. The "European Forum on the China Path" was founded in 2014 and has established venues in Spain, France, and Italy; this year marks its fourth session. The forum aims to strengthen academic exchanges between China and Europe, increase European society's understanding of China, and promote friendship and cooperation between the two sides.
In his opening speech, Huang Yazhong, Minister-Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Spain, stated that the "Belt and Road" is a Chinese solution [1] to address the global peace deficit, development deficit, and governance deficit. It has become an important mode of cooperation between China and the international community and has been welcomed by countries along the routes.
Julio Ríos, Director of the Galician Institute of International Analysis and Documentation, noted that the "Belt and Road" will not only promote economic and trade cooperation but will also play an important role in driving comprehensive social development and transmitting the concept of inclusivity.
Deng Chundong, Director of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Martiño Noriega, Mayor of Santiago de Compostela, also delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
More than 20 scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, Zhengzhou University, the National University of Defense Technology, and Shandong Transport University, as well as the University of Santiago de Compostela and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, engaged in extensive discussions and exchanges on topics such as the China Path, the "Belt and Road" and China-Europe cooperation, and a community with a shared future for humanity.
