On October 15, Deng Chundong, Director and Party Committee Secretary ^[1], met in Beijing with foreign guests attending the 8th World Socialist Forum. The guests included Egon Krenz, the last General Secretary of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR); Ulrich Peck, former District Party Committee Secretary of the GDR; Valeriy Sotarenko, editorial board member of the Ukrainian journal Communist and researcher at the Institute of Political Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, accompanied by his wife; Stoyan Zabryantov, member of the Bulgarian Parliament, member of the Executive Bureau of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), and Chairman of the BSP National Council’s Committee on Ideology and Programmatic Development; Mauro Alboresi, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Italy; and Andrea Catone, Editor-in-Chief of the Italian journal MarxVentuno (Marx in the 21st Century).
