Deng Chundong, Party Secretary and President, Holds Talks with Leaders of the Porto District Branch of the Portuguese Communist Party in Porto, Portugal
On the morning of October 10, 2018, Deng Chundong, Party Committee Secretary and President of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), held talks in Porto, Portugal, with Jaime Toga, a member of the Central Political Commission of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) and Secretary-General of the Porto District Branch, along with key Party cadres from the Porto District Branch.
Jaime Toga, Secretary-General of the PCP Porto District, stated that Porto is the most significant economic hub in northern Portugal. The PCP Porto District Branch currently has approximately 6,000 Party members and 200 Party branches, maintaining a broad mass base [1] in the region. Subsequently, Secretary-General Jaime Toga provided a detailed introduction to the Porto District Branch’s relevant experience in maintaining close ties with the masses [2] and strengthening the building of Party organizations.
Secretary Deng Chundong first expressed his gratitude to the comrades from the PCP Porto District Branch for their successful visit to our Institute last year. He pointed out that the PCP’s extensive experience in the construction of primary-level Party organizations [3] offers very important insights for reference, and expressed hope for further strengthening cooperation and exchange with the PCP Porto District Branch in the future.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, including the situation in Europe, China, and the world. Participants in the meeting included Belmiro Magalhães, member of the PCP Central Committee and member of the Porto District Secretariat; Anabela Mota, Diana Couto, and Paulo Tavares, members of the PCP Porto District Branch Secretariat; as well as Researcher Liu Zhiming from the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies; Yuan Hongying, Vice President of the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences; Professor Hao Lixin from Renmin University of China; Professor Xu Qinfa from Guangxi University; Associate Professor Yuan Fang from China University of Political Science and Law; and Associate Researcher He Qin from the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies.
