On October 22, CPC Committee Secretary and President Deng Chundong met with the Vice President of University College Cork, Ireland

On October 22, 2018, Deng Chundong, Party Committee Secretary and President of the Institute of Marxism Studies [1], received a visiting delegation at the Institute consisting of John O'Halloran, Vice President of University College Cork (UCC), Ireland, and Emma Connolly, Director of the International Office. The two parties explored the possibility of establishing long-term, pragmatic research cooperation. The Vice President of UCC introduced the university's desired areas of cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), namely Asian studies, government studies, and Belt and Road [2] research. He suggested that the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ireland in 2019 could serve as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation. President Deng Chundong affirmed the role that previous academic exchanges between the Institute of Marxism Studies and UCC have played in promoting scientific research. He expressed a warm welcome for specific cooperation between the two sides in areas such as faculty exchange visits, lecturing, doctoral programs, and the joint hosting of international seminars.
