On March 8, the Academy of Marxism Organized the "New Tongzhou, New Beijing—Exploring Beijing Municipal Administrative Center" Social Practice Activity
To celebrate International Women's Day, and with the strong support of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies, the Women's Work Committee of the Institute, in conjunction with the Institute’s Labor Union, organized a social practice activity for all staff titled "New Tongzhou, New Beijing: Exploring the New Beijing Municipal Administrative Center." On the morning of March 8, 2019, led by Jia Chaoning, Vice President of the Institute of Marxism Studies, over 60 staff members visited the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center Planning Exhibition Hall. They listened to a briefing by staff regarding the planning of the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, viewed the center's scale model and promotional film, and gained a careful understanding of the overall planning concepts, functional zoning layouts, and construction progress of the center. Furthermore, they developed a deep understanding of the national overall deployment to turn the Tongzhou District Municipal Administrative Center into a world-class demonstration zone for a harmonious and livable capital, a demonstration zone for new-type urbanization, and a demonstration zone for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region [1]. After leaving the exhibition hall, the group drove to visit the newly completed site of the Beijing Municipal Government.
Through this visit, everyone expressed immense admiration for the planning and construction of the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center. The "New Tongzhou" will extensively apply world-leading energy-saving and environmental protection technologies, standards, materials, and processes to build a green city, a forest city, a sponge city [2], and a smart city. It will also coordinate the spatial layout of production, living, and ecological spaces to ensure the organic connection and convenience of work, residence, leisure, transportation, education, and medical care. The planning and construction of the Municipal Administrative Center in New Tongzhou demonstrate the nation’s growing strength and the beautiful prospects for future development. In this spring, as the New China [3] approaches the 70th anniversary of its founding, organizing this visit was particularly meaningful.
