News & Updates

On December 25, 2021, the "Theoretical Symposium on Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the Spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Speech at the Ceremony Marking the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China" was held in Beijing and Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. This conference was sponsored by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Jiangxi Normal University, and the CASS Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It was organized by the School of Marxism of Jiangxi Normal University and the Department of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era within the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies. The meeting was conducted via a combination of online and offline formats. Jiang Hui—Vice President and Member of the Party Leadership Group of CASS, Director of the Institute of Contemporary China, and Director of the Institute of Marxism Studies—and Zhou Lisheng, Vice President of Jiangxi Normal University, delivered opening addresses. The opening ceremony was presided over by Researcher Xin Xiangyang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies.

Address by Jiang Hui, Vice President of CASS, Member of the Party Leadership Group, Director of the Institute of Contemporary China, and Director of the Institute of Marxism Studies:

In his address, Jiang Hui pointed out that this forum focuses on two major topics: the "Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee" [1] and "General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Speech at the Ceremony Marking the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China." The forum aims to conduct in-depth research into Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and to contribute wisdom to the research, interpretation, and promotion of the development of contemporary Chinese Marxism and 21st-century Marxism. He noted that this represents another significant academic milestone in the collaboration between CASS and the university front. Jiang Hui emphasized that in studying the Party’s centennial history, one must: first, conduct deep research into the major achievements and historical experience of the Party’s century of struggle, accurately grasp the historical trajectory, gain insight into historical laws, strengthen historical confidence, build ideological consensus, and stimulate the power to forge ahead; second, deeply study the significance of the creation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and its realization of a new historical leap in the Sinicization of Marxism; third, profoundly recognize the decisive significance of the Two Establishments for the development of the Party and state undertakings in the New Era and for advancing the historical process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Address by Zhou Lisheng, Vice President of Jiangxi Normal University:

In his address, Zhou Lisheng introduced the long history and current status of Jiangxi Normal University. He highlighted the outstanding achievements made by the university’s School of Marxism under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the University Party Committee, particularly noting that the discipline of Marxist Theory received an "A" rating in the Ministry of Education's fourth round of subject evaluation—one of only four such ratings in Jiangxi. Zhou Lisheng emphasized that we must effectively strengthen our political, ideological, and behavioral consciousness [2] in studying and implementing the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the centenary celebration, striving to ensure these spirits go deep into the hearts of the people. Finally, Zhou Lisheng wished the conference a complete success.
