Unite as One to Honor the Centenary

News & Updates

In 2021, amidst the profound atmosphere of the entire Party carrying out activities for the study and education of Party history [1], we welcomed the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Centering on this centenary, and with the approval of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies (IMS), the Women’s Working Committee of the IMS successively organized or co-organized a series of distinctive activities. These included, for example: a visit themed "Gathering Women's Strength to Welcome the Centenary" for International Women’s Day on March 8; participation in the essay competition themed "Women’s Hearts Toward the Party, Building Merits on the New Journey—A Tribute to the Party’s Centenary" organized by the Women’s Working Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS); a celebration for International Children’s Day on June 1 themed "Childlike Hearts Toward the Party, Saluting the Centenary"; and active assistance to the IMS Trade Union in organizing female staff to participate in the CASS "Always Follow the Party" Red Classic Recitation [2]. Furthermore, the Women’s Working Committee integrated the specific characteristics and needs of female staff to hold the second IMS "Enhancing Women’s Professional Image Salon," and conducted caring activities such as sending blessings on the 15th of each month to female staff celebrating birthdays, as well as congratulating those getting married, giving birth, or retiring. These initiatives were welcomed and affirmed by the female staff of the IMS.

  1. Organization of the "Gathering Women's Strength to Welcome the Centenary" International Women's Day visit. On the occasion of International Working Women’s Day on March 8, in order to enrich the cultural life of our Institute’s staff, further strengthen the cohesion of all personnel, promote the "Four Selfs" spirit [3] of women, and showcase the brilliance of the women of our Institute—while simultaneously seizing the opportunity of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the Party-wide study and education of Party history—the Institute’s Trade Union and Women’s Working Committee organized the March 3 theme activity "Gathering Women's Strength to Celebrate the Centenary of the Party." A total of 82 staff members from the Institute participated. Participants visited patriotic education bases [4] such as the Guo Moruo Memorial Hall, the exhibition of achievements for the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of Contemporary China Studies, and the Former Residence of Soong Ching-ling. Xin Xiangyang, Secretary of the Institute’s Party Committee, and Gong Yun, Deputy Director, attended the event and delivered speeches. The activity received high praise from the CASS Women’s Working Committee and the leadership of the IMS. Reports on the event were published in media outlets such as the Marxism Studies website, Social Sciences Special Issue, the Social Sciences website, and the CASS Trade Union WeChat public account, drawing widespread attention. 2. Organization of the "Childlike Hearts Toward the Party, Saluting the Centenary" International Children’s Day series of activities. To celebrate International Children's Day on June 1 and the 100th anniversary of the CPC, and to utilize children’s unique perspectives and understanding to demonstrate their love for the Party and the motherland while passing on the "red gene" [5], the Institute’s Trade Union and Women’s Working Committee held a series of activities themed "Childlike Hearts Toward the Party, Saluting the Centenary." This included three thematic activities: (1) "Childlike Hearts Toward the Party" T-shirt DIY painting; (2) a parent-child activity for telling "red stories" and singing "red children’s songs"; and (3) a trip to the China Science and Technology Museum and Olympic Forest Park to "feel the charm of technology and enhance parent-child bonds." After the activities, the Women’s Working Committee produced commemorative CDs and display boards, which were well-received by staff and their children. 5. Organization of the second IMS "Enhancing Women’s Professional Image Salon." To help female staff shape a healthy, beautiful, and positive professional image in work and life, and to showcase their unique workplace charm and self-confidence, the Trade Union and Women’s Working Committee held the second "Enhancing Women’s Professional Image Salon" on October 28. Senior stylist and International Fashion Week makeup artist Liu Qing was invited as the keynote speaker to improve workplace makeup and clothing coordination skills, which was welcomed by the female staff. In addition to the aforementioned thematic activities, the Women’s Working Committee earnestly cared for the professional and personal needs of female staff in its daily work. For example, on the 15th of every month, congratulations were sent in the women's WeChat group to those celebrating birthdays; amidst the birthday wishes from colleagues, staff felt the care and warmth of the organization. Special congratulations were offered to female staff for marriages or births. The committee actively organized gynecological health check-ups, extending this service to some contract-based female staff. To help resolve difficulties, the committee established three age-specific parent WeChat groups to address issues encountered in children's education and school admissions, facilitating mutual aid and effective communication. Farewell ceremonies were also held for female staff retiring this year. These thoughtful actions allowed staff to feel the warmth provided by the workplace and the Women’s Working Committee. In the past year of 2021, despite unfavorable conditions such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the Women’s Working Committee solidified cohesion [6] and carried out its work actively, gaining the affirmation of female staff. Many reflected: "It feels so good to have the organization." In 2022, the five members and seven liaisons of the Women’s Working Committee will continue to work hard and implement tasks solidly, leading all female staff to strive in their posts and create beauty in their daily lives.
