The Trade Union and Women's Working Committee of the Academy of Marxism Host "Welcome the Beijing Winter Olympics" Event

News & Updates

"Building dreams on ice and snow, igniting passion for the Olympics." In order to support the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, facilitate an understanding of Winter Olympic culture among our staff, stimulate patriotic sentiment, and provide experience in ice and snow sports—thereby ensuring the Olympic motto of "Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together" takes deep root in people's hearts—the Trade Union and the Women's Working Committee [1] of the Institute of Marxism Studies (IMS) [2], with the vigorous support and guidance of the IMS Party Committee, jointly organized a "Welcoming the Beijing Winter Olympics" event themed "Together for a Shared Future."

The event officially launched on January 28, 2021. The Trade Union and the Women’s Working Committee carefully designed two themes: "Drawing the Olympic Spirit with One Heart" and "Showcasing the Style of Ice and Snow Sports," soliciting submissions from all IMS staff and their families. The event was warmly received by our staff and their kin, who participated enthusiastically and submitted works in large numbers. By the conclusion of the event on March 13 (the closing day of the Beijing Winter Paralympics), a total of 38 works had been received, including 30 image-based works and 8 video works. These works were rich, diverse, and possessed unique characteristics: some used paintbrushes to depict the Winter Olympics of the heart; some used cameras to capture beautiful moments; and others "wielded brushes and splashed ink" [3] to lend their support to the Games. Based on their own interests and hobbies, participants utilized various forms—such as painting, poetry, calligraphy, photography, and video—to express their attention to and support for the Beijing Winter Olympics, showcasing their passion and flair for ice and snow sports.

Based on the submitted works, the Trade Union and the Women's Working Committee produced exhibition boards, recorded optical discs, and prepared exquisite Winter Olympic souvenirs for all participants.

Our staff and their families expressed that this activity not only demonstrated the sunny, cheerful, positive, and excellence-seeking spiritual outlook of the IMS staff and their families, but also fostered a strong cultural atmosphere within the Institute for following and supporting the Beijing Winter Olympics and actively participating in ice and snow sports. The leadership of the Institute also stated that, in the New Era, we must more actively carry out meaningful activities that combine the themes of the times with excellent traditional culture. This will contribute the wisdom and strength of our IMS staff to the dissemination and promotion of the spirit of the times—including the Olympic spirit—and to the inheritance of fine Chinese traditional culture.
