Academy of Marxism Holds Exchange Meeting for the Thematic Education Program on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era
On June 7, the Institute of Marxism Studies held a study and exchange meeting concerning the thematic education [1] campaign for studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Each Party branch delivered exchange speeches centered on the comprehensive and in-depth study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Liu Hong, head of the Fifth Iterative Guidance Group for the thematic education campaign of the Academy, attended the meeting to provide guidance and deliver a speech. Xin Xiangyang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Institute, presided over the meeting and provided study tutorials. Cadres and scholars of the Institute of Marxism Studies, along with retired Party members, attended the meeting.
The following individuals delivered study and exchange speeches: Chen Zhigang, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department for the Study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; Yu Bin, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department for the Study of the Fundamentals of Marxism; Liu Zhiming, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department for the Study of the Sinicization of Marxism; Pan Jine, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department for the Study of the International Communist Movement; Yu Haiqing, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department for the Study of Overseas Marxism; Li Jianguo, Organizing Member of the Party Branch for Journals and Networks; and Chi Chongyang, Secretary of the Party Branch for Administration. Comrade Xin Xiangyang provided a study tutorial titled "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era Is a Paradigm of Adhering to and Applying the Marxist Worldview and Methodology."
Xin Xiangyang set forth requirements for the thematic education work of the Institute of Marxism Studies. He emphasized that all cadres and scholars of the Institute must continue to strengthen their in-depth study and comprehension of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. First, they must persist in reading the original works, studying the original texts, and grasping the underlying principles [2]. They must effectively study works such as the Selected Readings from the Works of Xi Jinping, the Extracts from Xi Jinping’s Expositions on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and the Outline for the Study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era (2023 Edition), while following up on the General Secretary’s latest important speeches and articles. On June 2, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the Symposium on Cultural Inheritance and Development [3]; each Party branch must organize Party members and cadres to earnestly and deeply study and comprehend the spirit of this speech. Second, they must use the completion of tasks assigned by the Central Committee and the Leading Party Members' Group [4] of the Academy as a starting point to deepen and promote the study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, grasping its profundity through the research of major assigned tasks and projects. Third, they must deepen their study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era through investigation and research [5], further recognizing and mastering the Party's innovative theories. In their investigations, each research department must persist in a problem-oriented approach [6], strengthen their awareness of problems, identify issues accurately, and propose substantive countermeasures to produce high-quality research outcomes.
In her speech, Liu Hong affirmed the thematic education work of the Institute of Marxism Studies and put forward clear requirements for the Institute to continue implementing various tasks of the thematic education campaign from three aspects. First, further deepen the study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and follow up on the study of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches. Second, solidly carry out investigation and research, earnestly implementing the spirit of relevant documents from the Central Committee and the Leading Party Members' Group of the Academy during the process; they should highlight a problem-oriented approach, summarize and refine advanced experiences, and produce high-quality results. Third, seek truth from facts in compiling a list of problems and earnestly carry out rectification and reform; the Party Committee must effectively shoulder its primary responsibility [7], earnestly identify problems, and ensure the resolution of prominent issues. Fourth, focus on summarizing and publicizing the experiences and practices of the thematic education work, compiling the specific cases and reflections of leading Party cadres using the Party's innovative theories to solve practical problems, discovering distinctive highlights, and reporting them promptly to the Office of the Leading Group for Thematic Education of the Academy's Leading Party Members' Group.
