News & Updates

On June 25, 2024, the Institute of Marxism Studies organized a themed activity for retired veteran Party members and cadres to study and comprehend the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech at the Cultural Inheritance and Development Symposium. The group visited the Chinese Archaeological Museum and the Central Archives of Publications and Culture (National Archives of Publications and Culture) to appreciate the long history and profound depth of five thousand years of Chinese civilization. Luo Wendong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies, led the delegation, which included 16 retired veteran Party members and cadres.

During and after the activity, participants expressed their thoughts one after another, stating that visiting these two important national-level exhibition halls was highly rewarding and deeply educational.

Participants felt that inside the Archaeological Museum, the primitive cultural relics and exquisite murals seemed to transport them through time and space into the depths of history. They gained a more intuitive understanding of the life, art, and technology of ancient humanity. Through the explanations and viewing, they developed a deeper understanding of the development and evolution of ancient civilizations, which instilled a greater sense of awe and appreciation for our cultural heritage, and a deep-seated pride in the brilliant history and culture of the Chinese nation. The visit allowed them to fully experience the diversity and long-standing nature of Chinese civilization, as well as the vital role Chinese civilization has played in promoting mutual learning between Chinese and foreign cultures and the development of world civilization. "To dwell in this China [1]" is to dwell in civilization!

Other comrades stated that through viewing the archaeological relics, they gained an intuitive understanding of the enduring history and the "splendid treasures" of traditional Chinese culture. In the National Archives of Publications and Culture, they observed the high level of importance the Party and state leadership attach to cultural engineering. Consequently, they gained a deeper realization of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s statement: "Without excellent traditional Chinese culture, there would be no socialism with Chinese characteristics," and a more profound comprehension of the "Two Combinations [2]."

The participants unanimously agreed that these two visits provided them with knowledge, broadened their horizons, and strengthened their emotional connection to the culture, making it an unforgettable experience. They expressed gratitude to the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies, the Retired Party Branch, and the Administrative Office for their meticulous arrangements, as well as to the staff of the Archaeological Museum and the National Archives of Publications and Culture for their thoughtful service.
