The Academy of Marxism Holds a Study and Education Symposium for Retired Cadres on Implementing the Spirit of the Central Eight-Point Regulation
On April 18, 2025, the retired cadres’ Party branch of the Institute of Marxism Studies held a study and education symposium for retired cadres on the deep implementation of the spirit of the central Eight-Point Regulations. During the meeting, the spirit of the Institute-wide conference on comprehensively and strictly governing the Party and warning education [1] was conveyed, along with specific requirements for the study and education program to deeply implement the spirit of the central Eight-Point Regulations. Luo Wendong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies, attended the symposium. Luan Wenlian, Secretary of the retired cadres’ Party branch, presided over the meeting, which was attended by 16 retired Party members and cadres.
Luo Wendong reported on the key tasks of the Institute of Marxism Studies for 2025 and the Party Committee’s planned arrangements for work related to veteran cadres. He pointed out that the retired cadres of the Institute, especially the Party members, must strictly abide by the spirit of the central Eight-Point Regulations, observe Party discipline, and strengthen their awareness of ideological security to maintain a high degree of consistency with the Party Central Committee in thought, politics, and action. He noted that the institutional arrangement requiring retired cadres to return to the Institute every quarter to participate in activities must be executed. Furthermore, activities for veteran cadres should be actively developed, with plans to organize two inspection tours for them each year. He emphasized the need to strengthen the organization of scientific research for veteran cadres, conveying and explaining measures such as the application process for research projects, late-stage subsidies, and awards for achievements for retired personnel. He stated that the Institute of Marxism Studies actively supports the research activities of retired cadres and encourages everyone to apply proactively.
Luan Wenlian conveyed the spirit of the 2025 Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) conference on comprehensively and strictly governing the Party and warning education. Specifically, she conveyed the spirit of the speeches delivered at the conference by CASS President Gao Xiang and Hang Yuanxiang, leader of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Group stationed at the Academy. She also relayed the spirit of the notice regarding the "Work Plan for Study and Education on the Deep Implementation of the Spirit of the Central Eight-Point Regulations at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences." She emphasized that the study and implementation work should be guided by the spirit of the relevant meetings and the speeches of the Academy’s leadership. During the meeting, study materials were distributed to the veteran comrades, who also watched a warning education film and exchanged their thoughts and reflections.
The veteran comrades expressed that the content of the symposium was both important and substantial, affirming that they must consciously abide by the spirit of the central Eight-Point Regulations and keep firmly in mind the Party's original aspiration and founding mission. Some retired cadres remarked: "The incidents in the warning education film happened right around us, which has led to a profound realization of the importance and long-term nature of comprehensively and strictly governing the Party." They noted that as CASS serves as the "ideological storehouse" and "think tank" [2] of the Party Central Committee, CASS personnel must hold themselves to even stricter standards. As veteran comrades, they stated they should also teach the younger generation to abide by the law and discipline, contributing their "meager strength" [3] to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
