Make the "Golden Business Card" of the Eight-point Regulation Even Brighter
On July 10, the eleventh lecture of the "Marxism in the 21st Century Grand Hall," sponsored by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), was held in Beijing. This forum was presided over by Luo Wendong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies. Researcher Dai Lixing, Director of the Department of Research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era at the Institute of Marxism Studies, was specially invited to deliver a report titled "Making the 'Golden Business Card' of the Eight-Point Regulations Shine Even Brighter: Persisting in the 'Three Strict' Requirements to Continually Deepen the Rectification of the 'Four Winds.'"
During the forum, Dai Lixing systematically explained the reasons for formulating the Eight-Point Regulations and opposing the "Four Winds" in the New Era. He provided an in-depth explanation of the great practice and basic experience of implementing the Eight-Point Regulations in the New Era, analyzed in detail the current importance of implementing the Eight-Point Regulations and rectifying the "Four Winds," and launched a comprehensive discourse on continually deepening the rectification of the "Four Winds" in accordance with the "Three Strict" requirements [1].
Dai Lixing argued that implementing the spirit of the Central Eight-Point Regulations and opposing the "Four Winds" requires starting from several aspects: firmly grasping a political stance centered on the people, focusing on the "key minority" [2], adhering to a problem-oriented approach, achieving perseverance, strengthening systemic treatment, and highlighting political consciousness. It is necessary to deeply recognize that the issue of work style [3] concerns the direction of public support [4], the life and death of the Party, and the success or failure of the cause of the Party and the state. Grasping work style must be considered from a political perspective.
Dai Lixing stated that to continually deepen the rectification of the "Four Winds" in accordance with the "Three Strict" requirements, one must take General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourses on the Party's work style construction as a guide, and advance comprehensively with a strict tone, strict measures, and a strict atmosphere. The root of the "Four Winds" problem lies in the deviation from Party spirit. The broad ranks of Party members, especially leading officials, can only spontaneously resist the spread of the "Four Winds" by constantly improving their cultivation of Party spirit through adhering to the "Four Mirrors" [5]—comparing themselves against theory and ideals, Party constitution and discipline, the people's will and livelihood, and revolutionary predecessors and advanced models—and by keeping the Party's nature and purpose in mind at all times.
Attending scholars agreed that work style construction is an important component of Party building, concerning the Party's image and its foundation for governing. It is necessary to further study and comprehend General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourses on strengthening the Party's work style construction, deeply implement the spirit of the Central Eight-Point Regulations and their detailed rules for implementation, and continuously improve ideological awareness and clear away ideological mists. We must continue to promote work style construction with the "spirit of driving a nail" [6], and use the Party's excellent work style to lead the continuous improvement of social and folk customs.
