Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Conducts Themed Party Day Activities and Special Research on "Party Building Leading Comprehensive Rural Revitalization"
To deeply implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions regarding rural revitalization and to conduct on-site investigations into the practical outcomes of rural revitalization led by Party building, the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) organized cadres and staff to conduct a three-day specialized research trip to Xiayunling Township in Fangshan District, Beijing, and Sanpo Town in Laishui County, Hebei Province, from October 17 to 19, 2025.
On the afternoon of the 17th, the research team arrived at Tangshang Village in Xiayunling Township, Fangshan District, Beijing, to visit the "Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China" Memorial Hall [1]. The team listened attentively to the explanations and, through precious historical artifacts and video materials, revisited the background of the song’s composition and the profound history and spiritual power it contains. This further solidified their original aspiration and founding mission of educating for the Party and cultivating talent for the country, while strengthening their responsibility to serve rural development through Marxist theory.
On the morning of the 18th, the research team traveled to Bailixia Village in Sanpo Town, Laishui County, Hebei Province, focusing on investigating the local construction of ecological civilization [2]. The team conducted an on-site inspection of the village’s appearance and the results of ecological environment governance, learning in detail about the specific paths and significant achievements of Bailixia Village in practicing the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" [3], transforming ecological advantages into developmental advantages.
That afternoon, the research team moved to Nanyu Village to conduct an in-depth investigation into the village's efforts to consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty alleviation and its vigorous development of the characteristic "minshu" (boutique homestay) industry to promote rural revitalization. Through visiting homestay clusters, communicating with project managers, and conducting household visits, the team learned in detail about the operating models of the homestay industry, the mechanisms for driving employment and income growth for villagers, and the sustained vitality it has injected into rural development.
On the evening of the 18th, the research team organized a specialized symposium at their residence’s meeting room, inviting grassroots cadres including Liu Chuncheng, Party Branch Secretary of Bailixia Village, and Duan Chunting, Party Branch Secretary of Nanyu Village, to participate. The two secretaries respectively provided comprehensive and in-depth presentations on their villages’ practical experiences in advancing rural revitalization and consolidating poverty alleviation achievements under the leadership of Party building. They particularly highlighted the moving stories and effectiveness of grassroots Party organizations leading the masses in active flood control, disaster relief, and the efficient advancement of post-disaster reconstruction when facing challenges such as severe flooding. The research team also engaged in a lively and productive exchange with grassroots representatives regarding the key points and difficult issues encountered in the process of rural revitalization.
On the morning of the 19th, the research team arrived at Shannan Village to conduct a specialized investigation on how the inheritance and development of "Red Culture" [4] helps drive rural revitalization. The team visited red culture facilities in the village, watched red-themed literary and artistic performances staged by villagers, and interacted with local cadres and the masses, deeply feeling the thick historical and cultural atmosphere and the excellent revolutionary traditions of this "Red Land." By deeply excavating and utilizing red resources, Shannan Village has not only continued the "Red Bloodline" [5] and effectively stimulated the endogenous impetus for rural development, but has also explored a new model combining red culture with rural tourism and economic development, leaving a deep impression on the research team.
This research activity featured a tight schedule, substantial content, and clear priorities. Through on-site visits, symposium exchanges, and personal experiences, the research team from the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences gained an in-depth understanding of the vivid practices and significant achievements of rural grassroots in Party building leadership, ecological civilization construction, industrial revitalization, red culture inheritance, and rural governance. This accumulated precious first-hand material for related theoretical research and laid a solid foundation for further summarizing and refining replicable experiences for rural revitalization. The research team stated they would carefully organize and summarize the results of this investigation to contribute wisdom and strength toward deepening the study of the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism and serving the national rural revitalization strategy.
