The Academy of Marxism Conveys and Studies the Spirit of the National "Two Sessions" and the Enlarged Meeting of the CASS Party Group
According to the Marxism Research Online (myy.cass.org.cn), on March 18, the Institute of Marxism Studies (CASS) held a plenary meeting to convey and study the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches during the National Two Sessions [1], the spirit of the National Two Sessions themselves, and the spirit of the Enlarged Meeting of the CASS Party Leadership Group, as well as to deploy tasks for implementation. Ro Wendong, Secretary of the Party Committee, presided over the meeting, and Cui Weihang, Director and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, attended.
The meeting pointed out that this year's National Two Sessions were important meetings held at a critical juncture marking the successful conclusion of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the favorable start of the "15th Five-Year Plan" [2]. The important speeches delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping during the National Two Sessions are high-reaching and profound in thought [3], rich in connotation, and full of deep feeling. They fully demonstrate a historical initiative, immense political courage, and a strong sense of responsibility in driving the great vessel of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation to brave the wind and waves [4]. These speeches provide a scientific guide and fundamental compliance for successfully grasping economic and social development during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period and for performing all tasks well in this opening year. It is necessary to more profoundly comprehend the decisive significance of the Two Establishments, further strengthen the Four Consciousnesses [5], bolster the Four-sphere Confidence [6], and achieve the Two Upholds, earnestly unifying thoughts and actions with the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches. We must comprehensively and profoundly grasp the major agenda and significant achievements of the National Two Sessions, and more consciously plan and advance the various tasks of the Institute of Marxism Studies within the overall framework of the work of the Party and the state.
The meeting required that all departments of the Institute should combine the study and implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and the spirit of the National Two Sessions with the study and implementation of the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. They should deeply promote the systematic and theoretical research and interpretation of Xi Jinping New Era Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, focusing on prospective research regarding major issues in current economic and social development. It is necessary to conscientiously implement the "15th Five-Year Plan" outline and the deployments of the Enlarged Meeting of the CASS Party Leadership Group, scientifically formulate the development plan for the Institute of Marxism Studies during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, focus on strengthening the construction of the cadre and youth talent pools, deeply promote the adjustment of disciplinary layouts, and meticulously plan the development of all undertakings of the Institute.
Guided by the Party's political construction, the Institute must strengthen and improve the Party's overall leadership, tighten and solidify the political responsibilities of Party organizations, and advance comprehensively and strictly governing the Party in depth. We must solidly carry out education on establishing and practicing a correct outlook on political achievements [7], and deeply implement the general requirements of "founding a Party for the public, benefiting the people, scientific decision-making, and taking practical actions." We must persist in the integrated advancement of "learning, inspecting, and reforming," strive to establish long-term systems and mechanisms, consolidate and deepen the new pattern of political construction in our Institute, and unswervingly move forward with courage along the direction guided by General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Party Central Committee. We must resolutely implement the various instructions and requirements of the CASS Party Leadership Group to make the due contributions of the Institute of Marxism Studies to the start and initial steps of the "15th Five-Year Plan."
