Academy of Marxism Convenes Retired Cadres to Convey the Spirit of the Meeting on Comprehensive and Strict Governance of the Party and Warning Education

On March 13, the Institute of Marxism Studies (IMS) held a meeting for retired cadres to convey the spirit of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Conference on Comprehensively and Strictly Governing the Party and Warning Education. More than 20 retired Party-member cadres and staff members attended the meeting. Luo Wendong, Secretary of the Party Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, while Luan Wenlian, Secretary of the Retired Personnel Party Branch, presided over the session.
Participants first watched a warning education [1] film, followed by the transmission and study of the spirit of President Gao Xiang's speech at the 2026 CASS Conference on Comprehensively and Strictly Governing the Party and the Academy-wide Warning Education Gala. They also studied the "IMS Work Plan for Studying, Education, Establishing, and Practicing a Correct Outlook on Political Achievements" [2]; the "Reminder on Successfully Executing Ideological Work for Retired Personnel in 2026"; as well as disciplinary requirements regarding the standardized publication of achievements abroad and acceptance of interviews by foreign media, and management requirements for staff members’ concurrent external positions. After listening to the transmissions, the veteran comrades [3] carefully circulated the documents for reading and engaged in a discussion. Comrades Zhang Zuying, Li Wei, Zhao Zhikui, Wang Shijin, Shang Wei, Luan Wenlian, and Li Xiaoyong spoke in succession.
The participants reached a consensus that the CASS Party Group and the IMS Party Committee attach great importance to the work of retired cadres and show great concern for veteran comrades. These veteran comrades are maintaining an active and positive outlook, and CASS work has entered its best period, which is likewise the best period for work related to veteran cadres. They expressed gratitude for the political trust and personal care shown to veteran comrades, noting that they should exert their "surplus heat" [4] to play their role to the best of their ability. Participants stated their support for the requirements placed on veteran cadre work by CASS and IMS, noting that "strict management and profound love" [5] are unified. Retired personnel must maintain the true character of Communist Party members, cherish and protect the reputation of CASS staff, and consciously abide by Party discipline, CASS regulations, and work requirements. Strengthening ideological work is vital; we must clearly recognize the domestic and international situation and consciously maintain a high degree of unity with the Party Central Committee. Some veteran comrades also offered opinions and suggestions on keeping pace with modern technological developments, mastering the application of artificial intelligence, and strengthening the scientific research work of the IMS.
Luo Wendong pointed out that veteran cadre work should be viewed from the height of the overall situation of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, and from the level of the two laws of successfully running CASS and the development of philosophy and social sciences. The service and management of retired cadres is a matter of duty. The IMS purchases and provides study materials for every comrade, including retired cadres, and must organize timely study, comprehension, and implementation. He also provided explanations regarding the IMS disciplinary construction plan and the construction of the "Two Fortresses/Fronts [6] and One Platform."
