↩ [1] 两点论 (liǎngdiǎn lùn): "Two-Point Theory." A core concept in Maoist dialectics, specifically within the theory of contradictions. It posits that every phenomenon contains two internal aspects (e.g., strengths and weaknesses, or the principal and non-principal aspects of a contradiction). To "vulgarize" it refers to oversimplifying or misapplying this dialectical method, often by treating both points as equally important (dualism) rather than identifying the dominant aspect.

In contemporary Chinese youth culture, interest in Western astrology (horoscopes) is often viewed by state researchers as a form of "mild superstition" or a lack of scientific literacy that can act as a gateway to more formal religious or supernatural beliefs.

In the context of scientific atheism, this is studied as a historical example of the intersection between political power and superstition.

In Chinese administrative and academic discourse, this term is often used to describe high-demand religious movements or fringe groups that the state views as a threat to social stability, distinct from the five officially recognized religions.
