Call for Papers: 2020 National Forum on the Basic Principles of Marxism
The discipline of the basic principles of Marxism is a "distinguished discipline" [1] designated by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), led by Professor Cheng Enfu and Senior Researcher Yu Bin. It is also a Beijing Municipal Key Discipline [2] of the School of Marxism at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), having received approval in 2012. This discipline’s "National Forum on the Basic Principles of Marxism" conference series aims to promote mutual exchange and the presentation of achievements among experts and scholars engaged in the research and teaching of the basic principles of Marxism. Its objective is to advance both the classical transmission and the innovative development of the basic principles of Marxism. The 2020 National Forum on the Basic Principles of Marxism is jointly organized by the CASS Division of Marxist Studies, the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, the Beijing Collaborative Innovation Center for the Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (CUPL), and the School of Marxism at Yan’an University. The forum is scheduled to be held in September 2020, and we sincerely invite colleagues from the national academic community to participate and exchange ideas.
The theme of this year's seminar is "Commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Engels." Specific topics include: (1) Engels’ great contributions to Marxist theory; (2) Lenin's theory and its contemporary value (commemorating the 150th anniversary of Lenin's birth); (3) the contemporary significance of Engels’ thought; (4) specialized research on the basic principles of Marxism; (5) explorations into the disciplinary development of the basic principles of Marxism; (6) the Yan’an Spirit [3] and Red Culture [4]; and so forth.
The seminar follows the "participation via submission" [5] model. Experts and scholars planning to attend are requested to write papers centered on the conference theme. Paper formatting should refer to the submission requirements of the journal Marxist Studies (Mǎkèsīzhǔyì Yánjiū). After the conference, we will select outstanding papers to be published in a conference proceeding and recommend them to journals such as Marxist Studies, Studies on Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping Theories (Máozédōng Dèngxiǎopíng Lǐlùn Yánjiū), and Contemporary Economic Research (Dāngdài Jīngjì Yánjiū). The deadline for submissions is August 15, 2020.
