Call for Papers: 2021 National Forum on the Basic Principles of Marxism

The discipline of the Basic Principles of Marxism is a designated Priority Discipline of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) [1] (led by Professor Cheng Enfu and Researcher Yu Bin), and is also a Beijing Municipal Key Discipline of the School of Marxism at the China University of Political Science and Law (approved in 2012). The "National Symposium on the Basic Principles of Marxism" series of conferences aims to facilitate mutual exchange and the demonstration of achievements among the vast number of experts and scholars engaged in the research and teaching of the basic principles of Marxism, with the goal of promoting the classical inheritance and innovative development of these principles.

The 2021 National Symposium on the Basic Principles of Marxism is jointly organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Editorial Department of World Socialism Studies (Shijie shehuizhuyi yanjiu), the Beijing Collaborative Innovation Center for the Study of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (China University of Political Science and Law), and the Disciplinary Office, the Center for Innovative Marxism [2], and the School of Marxism of Northwestern Polytechnical University. It is scheduled to be held on November 5, 2021, at Northwestern Polytechnical University (Xi'an, Shaanxi). We sincerely invite colleagues from the academic community nationwide to participate in this exchange.

The theme of this symposium is: "Marxist Theories of Modernization and the Centenary Practice of the Communist Party of China." Specific topics include: (1) The application and development of the basic principles of Marxism by the Communist Party of China over the past century; (2) The Sinicization and popularization [3] of the basic principles of Marxism over the past century since the founding of the Party; (3) Special studies on the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics and Marxist theories of modernization; (4) Frontier theoretical research and the scientific application of the basic principles of Marxism; and so forth.

The symposium follows a "participation by paper submission" policy. Experts and scholars intending to attend are requested to write papers centered on the conference theme. Paper formatting should refer to the submission requirements of the journal Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi yanjiu). After the conference, we will select outstanding papers to recommend to journals such as Marxism Studies, Journal of Political Economy (Zhengzhi jingjixue yanjiu), Contemporary Economic Research (Dangdai jingji yanjiu), and World Socialism Studies. The deadline for paper submissions is September 25, 2021.
