Call for Papers: 2023 National Forum on Basic Tenets of Marxism

The "National Forum on the Basic Principles of Marxism" conference series aims to facilitate mutual exchange and the display of research achievements among experts and scholars engaged in the study and teaching of the basic principles of Marxism. Its objective is to promote the classical inheritance, innovation, and development of the basic principles of Marxism. The 2023 National Symposium on the Basic Principles of Marxism is jointly organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the editorial department of World Socialism Studies (Shijie Shehuizhuyi Yanjiu), the Beijing Collaborative Innovation Center for the Study of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (China University of Political Science and Law), and the School of Marxism at Shandong University. The symposium is scheduled to be held from August 19–20, 2023. We sincerely invite colleagues from the national academic community to participate and engage in exchange.

The theme of this year’s symposium is: "The Marxist Worldview and Methodology." Specific topics include: (1) The worldview and methodology of Mao Zedong Thought; (2) The worldview and methodology of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics ^[1]; (3) The worldview and methodology of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; (4) Research on Chinese-path modernization from the perspective of the basic principles of Marxism; (5) Research on the basic principles and classical works of Marxism; (6) Research on the contemporary application of the basic principles of Marxism; (7) Disciplinary development of the basic principles of Marxism; among others.

The symposium operates on the principle of "participation through submission." Experts and scholars intending to attend are requested to write papers centered on the conference theme. Paper formatting should refer to the submission requirements of the journal Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu). After the conference, outstanding papers will be selected for recommendation to journals such as Marxism Studies, Studies on Political Economy (Zhengzhi Jingjixue Yanjiu), Contemporary Economic Research (Dangdai Jingji Yanjiu), and World Socialism Studies. The deadline for paper submissions is July 30, 2023.
