Call for Papers: The 9th National Forum on Marxist Economics and the 10th National Youth Forum on Marxist Economics
The year 2020 marks the concluding year for the decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects [1]. It is an occasion to further organize and summarize the guiding experiences of Marxist political economy regarding China’s economic and social development, to uphold and improve the basic socialist economic system [2], and to continuously enrich and refine the theoretical construction and practical interpretation of Marxist political economy. Accordingly, the 9th National Forum on Marxist Economics and the 10th National Youth Forum on Marxist Economics will be held in mid-to-late October 2020 at Liaoning University.
The theme of this forum will revolve closely around "Building a Moderately Prosperous Society in All Respects and Upholding and Improving the Basic Socialist Economic System." Research will focus on the following topics:
- Textual research on the classical works of Marxist economics.
- Foreign Marxist theory and the new changes in contemporary capitalism.
- Research and development of the history of Marxist economic thought.
- Marxist ecological thought and its contemporary value.
- The battle against poverty [3] and the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
- Reform of the rural land system and the rural revitalization strategy.
- Research on the relationship between the components of the basic socialist economic system, including: the mainstay status of public ownership alongside the joint development of multiple forms of ownership; the mainstay status of distribution according to work alongside the coexistence of multiple distribution modes; and the socialist market economy system.
- Other major theoretical and practical issues in Marxist political economy.
The forum plans to adopt a "1+4+3" exchange and discussion model, consisting of: one plenary keynote report; four sub-forum report sessions; and three academic exchange sessions (a youth scholar dialogue, an exchange on the construction of the political economy discipline and youth development, and an exchange between academic journals and youth scholars).
We welcome active submissions from researchers in national research institutes, higher education institutions, and Party and government departments. We especially encourage and support submissions from Master's and Doctoral students interested in Marxist political economy. Official invitation letters will be sent in late August following the peer-review process.
Submitted papers must be original, unpublished works. The submission deadline is July 1, 2020. Please send the electronic version of the paper to the forum’s public mailbox at bqm_2013@163.com (Liu Daoyi, Institute of Marxism Studies, CASS), and concurrently carbon copy (CC) the email to lnujdzxb@163.com (Zhang Wei and Zhang Guanghui, School of Economics, Liaoning University). The paper must include an abstract, keywords, author biography, contact phone number, and email address.
A review meeting will be held in July 2020 to evaluate the submitted papers. The review committee will primarily consist of experts in the field, heads of core journals, and members of the forum secretariat. Outstanding papers will be recommended for publication in important journals, including Marxism Studies, Teaching and Research, World Review of Political Economy, Journal of Political Economy, Contemporary Economic Research, Review of Political Economy, Economist, Studies on Chinese Socialism, Red Flag Manuscript, Study and Exploration, Economic Review, Reform, and West Forum.
No registration fee will be charged for this conference. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation expenses during the meeting.
