Call for Papers: The 11th National Forum on Marxist Economics and the 12th National Youth Forum on Marxist Economics

"Gratefully Welcoming the 20th National Congress, Forging Ahead on the New Journey" Fully Launching the New Journey of Socialist Modernization and the Innovative Development of Marxist Political Economy — Call for Papers for the 11th National Forum on Marxist Economics and the 12th National Youth Forum on Marxist Economics

In order to deeply study the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee [1], welcome the successful opening of the 20th National Congress of the Party [2], comprehensively organize and summarize the important contributions of Marxist political economy to China’s economic development, deeply explore major theoretical and practical issues in the history of Marxist economic thought, and better study, implement, publicize, and research Xi Jinping Economic Thought [3]—thereby promoting the construction of Chinese-path socialist political economy and the Sinicization and modernization of Marxist political economy in the New Era—we are specially organizing the "11th National Forum on Marxist Economics and the 12th National Youth Forum on Marxist Economics."

The forum is scheduled to be held at Hebei Normal University in mid-to-late September 2022.

The forum plans to adopt a "1+4+3" exchange and discussion model, namely: one keynote report + four parallel sub-forum reports + three academic exchange sessions (Youth Scholar Dialogue and Exchange, Political Economy Disciplinary Construction and Youth Development Exchange, and the Journals and Youth Scholars Exchange).

Forum Theme and Topics The theme of this forum is "Fully Launching the New Journey of Socialist Modernization and the Innovative Development of Marxist Political Economy." Research will focus on, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  1. Research on the basic principles of Marxist political economy and classical texts.
  2. Research on important theoretical issues in the history of Marxist economic thought.
  3. Research on the Sinicization and modernization of Marxist political economy and Chinese-path socialist political economy.
  4. Research on Xi Jinping Economic Thought.
  5. Research on the innovation and practice of the Communist Party of China's economic theory and its significance in the history of thought.
  6. Research on major economic issues in the new stage of development [4] and the full launching of the New Journey of socialist modernization.
  7. Research on high-quality development and the modernized economic system.
  8. Research on issues related to the dual circulation development pattern and the construction of a unified national big market.
  9. Research on the theory and practice of common prosperity.
  10. Political economy research on the great changes unseen in a century [5] and new changes in contemporary capitalism.
  11. Research on foreign Marxist political economy theories and their contemporary value.
  12. Research on other important theoretical and practical issues related to Marxist political economy.

Submission Requirements Researchers from national research institutions, institutions of higher learning, Party and government departments, and other units are welcome to submit papers. Master's and doctoral students interested in Marxist political economy are actively encouraged to submit papers and attend. In addition to the main text, submitted papers must include an abstract, keywords, author profile, contact phone number, email address, and other information. Papers must be unpublished and no less than 8,000 words in length. (See Appendix 1 for formatting requirements). The deadline for submissions is July 20, 2022. Please send the electronic version of the paper to the forum's public email: bqm_2013@163.com (Liu Daoyi, Institute of Marxism Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), and CC to: hbczhliugang@163.com (Liu Gang, School of Business, Hebei Normal University). This forum will hold a review meeting at the end of July 2022 to review submitted papers. The reviewers will mainly consist of experts in the field, heads of core journals, members of the forum's executive committee, and members of the secretariat. Authors of selected papers will receive a formal invitation in mid-to-late August.

To encourage young scholars to devote themselves to academic research and innovation, this forum will conduct an evaluation of outstanding achievements. Approximately 10 outstanding achievements will be selected from the submitted papers (focusing on lecturers and graduate students), including 2 first-prize achievements, 3 second-prize achievements, and 5 third-prize achievements. Honorary certificates and awards will be presented to the winning scholars at the opening of the forum. Subsequently, the list of winners will be announced and the achievements promoted on the forum's WeChat public account "Marxist Economics Youth" (Majing Qingnian).

Appendix 1: Forum Submission Formatting Requirements and Instructions

  1. Paper Title (Songti, Size 2): The title should be concise and accurate, and able to summarize the main point of the article. A subtitle may be added if necessary.
  2. Author Signature (Kaiti, Size 4) and Work Unit (Songti, Size 5): The author's name is placed below the title. The author should indicate the full name of their work unit, the province, city name, and postal code, placed in parentheses below the author's signature. One author should only mark one work unit (in principle, only one secondary unit); if the author has multiple work units, other units should be explained in the author profile. Multiple authors' signatures should be separated by semicolons; in principle, there should be no more than two signed authors.
  3. Fund Projects and Author Profile (Heiti, Size 5): If the paper is a fund-supported project at or above the provincial or ministerial level, the fund project, project name, and approval number must be noted in the footer of the first page. The author profile should include name, year of birth, gender, place of origin, degree, professional title, and main research direction. Those who have obtained a doctoral (master's) degree should indicate it; those currently studying for a doctoral (master's) degree should be marked as doctoral (master's) students.
  4. Abstract and Keywords (Heiti, Size 5): The abstract is an excerpt of the main points of the paper, which is independent and self-contained. It must summarize the main information of the full text in highly concise language. Avoid using phrases such as "This article introduces" or "The author believes." The abstract is generally 300–400 words. Keywords are identifying words (can be words or phrases) that reflect the main content of the paper for easy retrieval, and general words must be used. There are generally 3–5 keywords, separated by semicolons. (Abstract and keywords should be in Kaiti, Size 5).
  5. Main Text: Titles in the main text should be short and clear, without punctuation at the end. There should not be too many levels, generally not exceeding five. The general format is 1, (1), 1, (1), 1); circled numbers (such as ①②) should not be used. No serial numbers for introductions and conclusions. Selected topics must be at the forefront of the field, the literature used must be original and detailed, theory must be combined with reality, the demonstration process must be reasonable, and the conclusion must be innovative. The hierarchy should be clear and the structure complete. The "Introduction" section must include a review of relevant academic history. Character usage must comply with modern Chinese standards.
  6. Notes: Notes use footnotes to provide necessary explanations or descriptions of certain specific content in the text. The recording uses a sequential coding system, and the notes on each page are numbered separately. The recording items should be complete, and the serial numbers should be identified with Arabic numerals in parentheses. References use endnotes and a sequential coding system, and the serial numbers are identified with Arabic numerals in square brackets. For electronic document types such as databases, computer programs, and electronic bulletins, the identification shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Standard for the Layout of Social Science Journals of Chinese Higher Education Institutions, marking the release time and citation time.
