Call for Papers: The 4th Mao Zedong Thought Forum of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
To welcome the victorious convening of the 19th National Congress of the Party, to deeply deliberate on the experience of the Party’s theoretical innovation, and to study and publicize the achievements of the Party’s theoretical innovation since the 18th National Congress [1], the fourth "Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Mao Zedong Thought Forum" is scheduled to be held in Beijing on Saturday, April 15, 2017. The theme is "Mao Zedong and the Theoretical Innovation of the Communist Party of China," and the duration of the forum will be one day.
The "CASS Mao Zedong Thought Forum" is a national high-end academic forum under the unified leadership of the Leading Group for the Project of Marxist Theoretical Construction and Research [2] of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and is organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies. It aims to strengthen exchanges among scholars in the field of Mao Zedong Thought research nationwide and to advance the in-depth development of Mao Zedong Thought studies. The forum adopts a Chairperson Responsibility System, with the renowned Chinese expert on Mao Zedong Thought and President of Qiushi Journal, Research Fellow Li Jie, serving as the Forum Chairperson. Established in 2014, the forum is held once a year.
The forum operates on a "participation based on submission" policy and hereby solicits papers from experts, scholars, and teaching and research personnel nationwide engaged in the study of Mao Zedong Thought. Submitted papers should revolve around the theme of this year's forum and maintain a correct political direction [3]. Papers must be unpublished research results and must comply with academic standards. The length of the paper should generally not exceed 8,000 words (including notes) and should include 3–5 keywords and an abstract of no more than 300 words. Citations and historical materials must be accurate and rigorous, with sources clearly indicated (formatted as footnotes). Please include a brief author biography, email address, and contact phone number at the end of the text.
Following the initial selection of papers, the forum preparatory group will issue invitation letters to authors by the end of March.
