Call for Papers: The 7th Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Mao Zedong Thought Forum

To deeply study, research, and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC, and the spirits of the Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Plenary Sessions of the 19th CPC Central Committee; to further advance theoretical innovation based on practice; to deepen the study of Mao Zedong Thought in the New Era; and to sound the uplifting melody of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation within the field of academic theoretical research, the 7th Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Mao Zedong Thought Forum is tentatively scheduled to be held in Beijing on June 20, 2020 (Saturday). The theme is "Mao Zedong Thought and the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation." The conference will last three days: registration for participants from outside Beijing on June 19, the full conference on June 20, and the departure of participants on June 21. The final conference dates will be confirmed and announced based on the prevailing conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control.

The CASS Mao Zedong Thought Forum is a national high-end academic forum under the unified leadership of the Leading Group for the Construction of Marxist Theoretical Disciplines and the Theoretical Research Project [1] of CASS, and is hosted by the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies. It serves as an authoritative forum in the fields of Mao Zedong Thought and Mao Zedong’s life studies, aiming to strengthen exchanges among scholars nationwide and to promote the in-depth development of research in these areas. Founded in 2014 and held annually, the forum has become one of the most influential national forums in the fields of Mao Zedong Thought and Mao Zedong studies.

We welcome everyone to actively write and submit papers based on the theme of this forum and the following reference topics:

The forum operates on a "paper-based invitation" system. We hereby solicit papers from experts, scholars, and teaching and research personnel nationwide engaged in the study of Mao Zedong Thought. Submitted papers should follow the forum theme or the reference topics listed above, with titles chosen by the authors. Papers must adhere to the correct political direction and academic orientation; they must consist of unpublished research results and comply with academic norms. Generally, papers should not exceed 10,000 characters (including notes) and must be accompanied by 3–5 keywords and an abstract of no more than 300 characters. Citations and historical materials must be accurate and rigorous, with sources clearly indicated (please refer to the format used by the journal Study of Marxism). A brief author biography, email address, and contact number should be attached at the end of the text.

After the papers pass the preliminary selection, the forum preparatory group will issue invitation letters to selected authors by May 25.
