Call for Papers: The 10th Mao Zedong Thought Forum of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

To commemorate the 130th anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong’s birth, further deepen the study of Mao Zedong Thought, and vigorously promote the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism, the 10th Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Mao Zedong Thought Forum is scheduled to be held from November 3 to 5, 2023, in Xiangtan, Hunan Province—the hometown of the great man [1].

The forum is co-hosted by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Hunan University of Science and Technology. It is organized by the Department of Research on the Sinicization of Marxism at the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies and the School of Marxism at Hunan University of Science and Technology. Co-organizers include the editorial departments of Marxism Studies (Ma-ke-si-zhu-yi yan-jiu), Reprinted Journal Materials: Mao Zedong Thought (Fu-yin bao-kan zi-liao: Mao Zedong si-xiang), Studies in Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping Theories (Mao Zedong Deng Xiaoping li-lun yan-jiu), Journal of Mao Zedong Thought Studies (Mao Zedong si-xiang yan-jiu), and Mao Zedong Research (Mao Zedong yan-jiu). The theme of the forum is "Mao Zedong Thought and the Comprehensive Building of a Modern Socialist Country."

The CASS Mao Zedong Thought Forum is one of the series of forums under the Marxist Theory Disciplinary Development and Theoretical Research Project of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It is an authoritative forum in the field of Mao Zedong Thought research, aimed at strengthening exchanges among scholars across the country and promoting the in-depth development of research in this field. Founded in 2014 and held annually, this year marks the tenth session, and it has become one of the most influential national forums in the study of Mao Zedong Thought.

We sincerely invite experts, scholars, teachers, and students in relevant research fields throughout the country to participate by submitting papers. We encourage everyone to actively write and submit contributions centered on the forum’s theme.

III. Time and Location Conference Dates: November 3–5, 2023 (Registration on November 3; full-day conference on November 4; departure on November 5). Location: Hunan University of Science and Technology, Xiangtan City, Hunan Province.

IV. Paper Submissions Call for papers must be guided by Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the "Three Represents" [4], the Scientific Outlook on Development [5], and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Submissions should closely integrate the study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech delivered on February 7 this year at the opening ceremony of the seminar for principal leading officials at the provincial and ministerial levels on studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. Papers should embody ideological depth, contemporary relevance, and innovation.

Interested experts, scholars, teachers, and students are requested to complete their papers as soon as possible and send them to 11906156@qq.com by October 5, 2023. Papers must be unpublished original research, adhere to correct political and academic directions, and comply with academic norms. Generally, papers should not exceed 10,000 characters (including notes), and should be accompanied by 3–5 keywords and an abstract of approximately 300 characters. Citations and historical data must be accurate and rigorous, with sources clearly indicated (please refer to the format used by Marxism Studies). Contributions must be marked with the phrase "Conference Submission" (huì-yì zhēng-wén), and a brief author biography, email address, and contact telephone number should be attached at the end of the text.

The conference organizing committee will form a paper review committee composed of relevant experts to select the submissions. Formal invitation letters will be sent by October 20 to those whose papers have been selected.

V. Other Matters No registration fee will be charged for the conference. Transportation and accommodation expenses are to be borne by the participants, while meal costs during the conference will be covered by the organizers.
