Call for Papers and Award Notice for the 10th National Forum on Marxist Economics and the 11th National Youth Forum on Marxist Economics

The year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the inaugural year of the "14th Five-Year Plan" [1]. Our nation is set to embark on a new journey toward the comprehensive building of a modern socialist country. In order to comprehensively summarize the glorious course of China's economic and social development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, synthesize the important contributions of Marxist political economy to China’s economic development, uphold and improve the basic socialist economic system, and further promote the construction of political economy with Chinese characteristics and the enrichment and development of Marxist political economy theory, the "10th National Forum on Marxist Economics and the 11th National Youth Forum on Marxist Economics" is scheduled to be held in mid-to-late July 2021 at Inner Mongolia Normal University. The forum intends to adopt a "1+4+3" exchange and discussion model: namely, one plenary keynote report, four sub-forum report sessions, and three academic exchange sessions (a youth scholar dialogue, a session on the disciplinary construction of political economy and youth development, and an exchange session between academic journals and youth scholars).

With the theme "The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China and the Development and Important Contributions of Marxist Political Economy," this forum will focus on, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  1. One hundred years of economic theoretical innovation and practice by the Communist Party of China.
  2. Research on the Sinicization of Marxist political economy and its guiding value in the New Era.
  3. Textual research on the classical works of Marxist political economy.
  4. Political economy research on the international economic landscape and new changes in contemporary capitalism.
  5. Research on high-quality development and the construction of a modern economic system.
  6. Research on the integrated development of the digital economy and the real economy.
  7. World Review of Political Economy and research on foreign Marxist economic theories.

We welcome active submissions from researchers in national scientific research institutions, institutions of higher education, Party and government departments, and other units. We particularly encourage and support master's and doctoral students who are interested in Marxist political economy to actively submit papers and participate in the conference.

In addition to the main text, submitted papers must include an abstract, keywords, author biography, contact phone number, email address, and other information, and must be previously unpublished. The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2021. Please send the electronic version of the paper to the forum’s public mailbox: bqm_2013@163.com (Liu Daoyi, Institute of Marxism Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), with a carbon copy to: mzjqnlt@126.com (Bao Xiuqin and Qiao Han, School of Economics and Management, Inner Mongolia Normal University).

The forum will convene a review meeting in mid-to-late June 2021 to deliberate on the submitted papers. The review panel will primarily consist of experts in the field, heads of core journals, members of the forum's executive committee, and members of the secretariat. Authors of selected papers will receive formal invitation letters in early July. Outstanding submitted papers will be recommended to relevant journals such as International Critical Thought, Teaching and Research, World Review of Political Economy, Research on Political Economy, Contemporary Economic Research, Review of Political Economy, Economist, Studies on Chinese Socialism, Red Flag Manuscript, Study & Exploration, Economic Review, Reform, Western Forum, and Reform & Strategy.

To encourage young scholars to devote themselves to academic research and innovation, this forum will conduct a review of outstanding achievements. Approximately ten outstanding achievements will be selected from the submitted papers (with a focus on lecturers [2], master's, and doctoral students), including two first-class achievements, three second-class achievements, and five third-class achievements. Honorary certificates and awards will be presented at the opening of the forum, and the list of winners and their achievements will be announced and promoted on the forum’s official WeChat public account, "Marxist Economics Youth" (Majing Qingnian).

No registration fee will be charged for this meeting. Transportation, accommodation, and other expenses during the meeting shall be borne by the participants.
