Call for Papers: The 12th National Forum for Young Scholars of Marxism
In order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, comprehensively and deeply study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and continuously deepen the understanding and research of the Marxist theory of the state—particularly research on Xi Jinping’s important expositions regarding the comprehensive building of a great modern socialist country—and to promote mutual learning, exchange, and growth among young Marxist theoretical workers nationwide, the 12th National Forum for Young Marxist Scholars will be held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, in September 2019. The forum is jointly organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Nanchang Institute of Technology, and hosted by the Editorial Department of Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu) and the School of Marxism at Nanchang Institute of Technology. We are now inviting paper submissions from young scholars nationwide engaged in the research and teaching of Marxist theory.
I. Forum Theme and Topics
(1) Forum Theme The Construction of a Great Modern Socialist Country in China from the Perspective of Marxism
(2) Forum Topics
- The theoretical connotations and significant implications of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on the comprehensive building of a great modern socialist country;
- Theoretical contributions and practical explorations in the construction of a great modern socialist country since the founding of New China [1];
- Research on the creation, development, and improvement of the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics;
- Research on scientific socialism [2] and socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era;
- The intrinsic connection between building a modern economic system and adhering to the fundamental socialist system;
- The Rural Revitalization Strategy and the development of the rural collective economy;
- Research on the basic experience of the Communist Party of China’s 70 years in power.
II. Time and Location
Time: Mid-to-late September 2019 (tentative). For specific dates, please follow: the "Marxism Studies Network" (myy.cass.cn), the "Marxism Studies (Journal)" [3], and the "Marxism Studies" WeChat public account.
Location: School of Marxism, Nanchang Institute of Technology (Nanchang, Jiangxi).
III. Participation Method
Participation is determined by paper submission. After submissions have been reviewed by experts, invitation letters will be sent to those whose papers are selected.
IV. Submission Requirements
- Submission deadline: July 30, 2019.
- The length of the article should ideally be between 10,000 and 15,000 characters. The paper should have a distinct theme, correct viewpoints, and clear argumentation, reflecting academic rigor and innovation, and must be previously unpublished.
- The main text should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 500 characters), keywords (3–5), and a brief author biography (name, gender, age, affiliation, professional title, position, contact address, telephone number, and email). The formatting of the main text should refer to the submission style guide of Marxism Studies.

VI. Special Forum Activities
- Paper Awards: One First Prize, two Second Prizes, three Third Prizes, and four Excellence Awards will be presented, along with prize money and certificates;
- A "Face-to-Face" session between the Editorial Department of Marxism Studies and young scholars;
- Invitations to outstanding young scholars who have previously published in Marxism Studies to deliver reports.
