Call for Papers: The 7th Forum on the Theory and Practice of Ruling Party Building

The "Seventh Forum on Ruling Party Building Theory and Practice," jointly sponsored by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Yangzhou University, and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, is scheduled to be held at Yangzhou University from November 20 to 22, 2020. We cordially invite colleagues from the academic community and practitioners to draft papers centered on the forum’s theme and to take time from their busy schedules [1] to participate in the discussions.

I. Conference Theme Persisting in and Improving the Institutional System for the Party's Leadership

II. Specific Topics

  1. Research on the institutions for staying true to the original aspiration and founding mission.
  2. Research on various institutions for upholding the authority of the Party Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership [2].
  3. Research on improving the institutions for the Party’s comprehensive leadership.
  4. Research on various institutions for governing for the people and relying on the people to govern.
  5. Research on improving the Party's governing capacity and leadership level.
  6. Research on improving the Party’s way of leadership and way of governing.
  7. Research on the institutional implementation of democratic centralism [3] in leadership work.
  8. Research on issues regarding the implementation of the "Certain Norms Regarding Political Life Within the Party Under the New Situation" [4].
  9. Research on the system for comprehensively and strictly governing the Party.
  10. Research on other aspects of Party building.

III. Time and Location (1) Time: Registration on November 20 (Friday); Conference on November 21 (Saturday); Departure on November 22 (Sunday). (2) Location: New Century Hotel, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province.

IV. Other Matters

  1. The forum does not charge a conference fee; participants are responsible for their own round-trip transportation and accommodation expenses. Hard-copy invitations may be collected on-site after the meeting on the afternoon of November 21.
  2. Please send submissions and the conference participation receipt to the email djcass@sina.com before November 8, 2020. The conference organizing committee will send formal invitations based on the quality of the manuscripts.
  3. Participation in the forum is contingent upon paper submission. After the conference, selected papers will be compiled for publication or recommended to relevant core journals. The electronic file name of the paper should be "Author Name + University + Article Title." Submissions should choose their own titles and perspectives centered on the theme, and must adhere to the correct political and academic orientation. Papers must be original research results that have not been publicly published; the length should ideally be between 6,000 and 10,000 words. Please use Word software for formatting, include 3–5 keywords and an abstract of within 300 words. Citations should use footnotes at the bottom of the page, renumbered on each page. Specifically, please follow the publication format of the journal Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu). Please attach personal information such as author biography, professional title, position, contact phone number, and email address at the end of the text.
  4. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, conference details may be subject to adjustment. Applicants are requested to maintain timely contact with the conference organizers.
