Call for Papers: The 4th International Forum on the Communist Movement

Call for Papers "The 4th International Communist Movement Forum: Contemporary World Socialism and Social Development"

Since entering a new historical period [1], contemporary world socialism has exhibited many new circumstances, transformations, and characteristics. These have exerted a significant influence on the economic, political, and cultural lives of people in the contemporary era, drawing extensive attention from academic circles both at home and abroad. To conduct an in-depth study of the current development status and prospects of the international communist movement and world socialism within a contemporary socialist context, the "4th International Communist Movement Forum: Contemporary World Socialism and Social Development"—hosted by the Institute of Marxism Studies (马克思主义研究院) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Huaqiao University (华侨大学)—is scheduled to be held from September 23–25, 2016, at Huaqiao University in Quanzhou, Fujian Province. The conference will be organized by the Department of International Communist Movement of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies and the School of Political Science and Public Administration of Huaqiao University, with co-sponsorship from the editorial department of the journal Marxist Studies (《马克思主义研究》) and the Guangxi Normal University Press Group (广西师范大学出版集团), among others. We are now soliciting papers from experts and scholars nationwide engaged in research in this field.

The scope of topics for the call for papers is as follows:

  1. Development trends of the contemporary international communist movement and world socialist movement;
  2. Developmental dynamics of contemporary foreign communist parties;
  3. Current development status and prospects of major contemporary foreign socialist schools of thought;
  4. Contemporary global Left-wing ideological trends and Left-wing movements;
