Call for Papers: The 11th International Forum on the Communist Movement
The Report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC stated: "From this day forward, the central task of the Communist Party of China will be to lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in a concerted effort to realize the Second Centenary Goal [1] of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects and to advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through Chinese-path modernization." The year 2023 marks the opening year for the comprehensive implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC. Looking across the globe, the international landscape has undergone significant changes that will exert an important influence on the international communist movement and world socialism. Against this backdrop, the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Yunnan University will jointly host the 11th International Communist Movement Forum. We invite relevant domestic experts and scholars, alongside international experts and scholars from Vietnam, Laos, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Japan, and other countries, to participate in discussions and exchanges focused on the theme "The World Socialist Movement and Chinese-path Modernization in a New Period of Turbulence and Transformation." The goal is to promptly grasp the new dynamics in the development of the international communist movement and world socialism, and to profoundly understand the interconnections between socialism with Chinese characteristics and world socialism. This forum will also host a new book launch. The relevant information for the conference is as follows:
I. Conference Theme The World Socialist Movement and Chinese-path Modernization in a New Period of Turbulence and Transformation
II. Conference Time and Venue Time: Early July 2023, two-day duration. Venue: Yunnan University, Kunming, Yunnan Province.
III. Conference Format A combination of online and offline participation.
IV. Conference Topics
- Theory and practice regarding modernization and socialist modernization.
- Chinese-path modernization in a comparative perspective.
- New progress in reform and innovation within world socialist countries.
- New progress in the theory and practice of Communist Parties worldwide.
- New trends in the development of the international landscape during a new period of turbulence and transformation.
- New changes in the relationship between the two systems of socialism and capitalism.
- New changes in capitalism during a new period of turbulence and transformation.
V. Requirements for Paper Submission Participation in this forum is contingent upon paper submission. The organizers will arrange for experts to review the submissions. Formal invitations will be sent to the authors of selected papers, and outstanding papers will be recommended for publication in Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi yanjiu) and World Socialism Studies (Shijie shehuizhuyi yanjiu). Paper Requirements: Submissions must adhere closely to the theme, maintain correct viewpoints, and emphasize scholarly rigor. Length should be within 10,000 characters (including an academic biography of the author, abstract, keywords, and contact information). Formatting should follow the requirements of the journal Marxism Studies. Please send papers to the conference email (gjgylt2013@163.com) before June 10.
