An Introduction to the Research Office of Foreign Communist Theories

The Research Department of Foreign Communist Party Theory is a scientific research institution subordinate to the Department of Foreign Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). It is primarily engaged in academic research related to foreign Communist parties, covering a wide range of content including holistic studies of foreign Communist parties, country-specific studies, research on the International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties, research on the history of Communist party development, research on the electoral practices of Communist parties, and research on the evaluations made by overseas Communist parties regarding Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

The academic discipline building of the Research Department of Foreign Communist Party Theory is relatively mature. In addition to participating in the Academy’s innovation projects ^[1] and various other research tasks, it also undertakes the writing and translation work for the "World Marxism and the Left Translation Series" and the "World Marxism and the Left Monograph Series." This includes works such as Socialism: New Reflections by Russian Scholars and Capitalism on a Ventilator, which have fostered a positive interaction where discipline building drives personnel training. Currently, the primary research tasks being undertaken include Research on Contemporary World Marxism and Socialist Trends of Thought, An Overview of Contemporary World Communist and Workers' Parties, and The History of the Development of Marxism (Volume 8), among others.

The researchers at the Research Department of Foreign Communist Party Theory are mostly compound research talents ^[2] who have received professional foreign language training, covering languages such as English, Russian, Japanese, and German. In addition to their research work, they also undertake relevant academic communication and exchange activities both domestically and abroad. The Research Department of Foreign Communist Party Theory has also hosted numerous academic lectures for foreign scholars, former political figures, and high-level leaders of foreign Communist parties visiting the Institute of Marxism Studies.
