About the Association and the Center | Marxism Research Network

The Institute of Marxism Studies oversees or manages a total of eight academic societies and research centers: the Chinese Society of Historical Materialism, the Chinese Society of Political Economy, the Chinese Association for the Study of Foreign Economic Theories, the Chinese Society for the Study of Atheism, the Center for Studies of Science and Atheism, the Research Center for Economic and Social Development, the Research Center for National Cultural Security and Ideological Construction, and the Research Center for Contemporary Theoretical Trends. By organizing academic exchange activities such as annual conferences and forums, each society and center constructs platforms for scholarly dialogue, bringing together experts and scholars from relevant fields to discuss cutting-edge and topical theoretical issues. These efforts have advanced academic development within their respective disciplines.

It serves as a primary hub for the development of "Marxism with Chinese characteristics" and the theoretical fortification of the Party's ideological line.

In the Chinese Marxist context, "construction" (jiànshè) refers to the proactive strengthening, dissemination, and institutionalization of the Party’s guiding ideology (Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, and Xi Jinping Thought) to ensure social cohesion and political stability.
