Incumbent Leaders

Chen Zhigang, born in October 1972, currently serves as the Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee, Vice President, Level-2 Researcher, and Doctoral Supervisor at the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). He holds a PhD in Philosophy from Peking University and completed post-doctoral research at the CASS Institute of Sociology. He is a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance [1]. He serves as a Standing Director of the China Association for Human Studies and Vice President of the China Association for Religious Studies (Chinese Atheism Research Society). His primary research interests include Marxist theory, Party-building theory, and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

His monographs include Globalization and the Transcendence of Modernity, Critique of Modernity and Its Dialogue, and An Exploration of Party Building in the New Era. He has translated works such as Habermas, Globalisation/Anti-Globalisation, and Against Capitalism. He is the editor-in-chief of the "Great Spirits of the Communist Party of China" book series and the Blue Book of Party Building. He has published nearly 200 articles in journals and newspapers such as Philosophical Researches (Zhexue Yanjiu), Studies on Marxism (Mayeshi Zhuyi Yanjiu), Studies on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (Zhongguo Tese Shehuizhuyi Yanjiu), Literature of the Communist Party of China (Dang de Wenxian), Red Flag Manuscript (Hongqi Wengao) [2], People’s Daily, Guangming Daily, and Economic Daily.

Currently, he is leading the National Social Science Fund of China Major Project [3] titled "Research on the New Form of Human Civilization Created by the People under the Leadership of the Communist Party of China" (Grant No. 22ZDA020). He has led and completed more than ten commissioned research projects from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), as well as projects funded by the National Social Science Fund. He has received more than ten awards at the provincial and ministerial levels.
