Incumbent Leaders
Luo Wendong is the Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and a professor at the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He holds the rank of Second-Level Researcher [1] and serves as a doctoral supervisor. From 1985 to 1992, he studied for his bachelor's and master's degrees in the Department of Philosophy at Beijing Normal University, and from 1992 to 1995, he pursued his doctorate at the Institute of Marxism-Leninism of Renmin University of China.
He previously served as the Director of the Contemporary Capitalism Research Office and Assistant to the Director at the CASS Institute of Marxism-Leninism; Assistant to the President of the Chongqing Academy of Social Sciences (during a temporary assignment as a member of the Western Doctoral Service Group [2] selected by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League); and Director of the Department of Marxist Development Research at the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies (2007, deputy bureau level [3]). He has also served as the Deputy Director of the Information Management Office of CASS; Deputy Director of the Institute of Contemporary China (2016, director-general level); Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Social Sciences in China Press; Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Social Sciences Net; and Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Institute of World History (presiding over comprehensive operations since August 2021).
His main concurrent social positions include Vice President of the Chinese Association of Scientific Socialism and Vice President of the Chinese Association for Anthropological Studies (Renxue [4]). His primary research achievements include more than 10 authored or edited monographs. He has published over 100 papers in newspapers and journals such as People's Daily, Guangming Daily, Economic Daily, Qiushi, Historical Research, Studies on Marxism, and Studies on Chinese Characteristics for Socialism. He has presided over or participated in more than 20 national-level Social Science Fund projects and provincial or ministerial-level projects, receiving more than 10 national and provincial-level awards.
