Introduction to the CASS Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was established on December 29, 2017. It is one of the first ten research centers (institutes) for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era established with the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The primary function of the Center is to leverage the unique characteristics and advantages of CASS, taking the study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its main direction of attack. Through organizing the publication of theoretical articles in the central government’s "Three Newspapers and One Journal" ^[1], conducting project research, and hosting academic seminars, the Center systematically, deeply, and comprehensively researches and elucidates Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

The routine work of the Center primarily includes: (1) organizing scholars within the Academy to publish theoretical propaganda articles in the central "Three Newspapers and One Journal" in the name of the "Center"; (2) organizing research on major projects regarding Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; (3) holding academic seminars for the study and promotion of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; (4) hosting the annual conference for the Research Centers for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics within the national Academy of Social Sciences system ^[2]; (5) editing and publishing relevant books and periodicals that research and articulate Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; (6) managing the WeChat public account "New Era and New Thought Research."
