Introduction to the Contemporary World Capitalism Research Office
The Contemporary World Capitalism Research Office is one of the three research offices established under the Department of International Communist Movement Studies of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). It currently consists of four researchers: one Research Fellow, two Associate Research Fellows, and one Assistant Research Fellow, including two supervisors for master’s students. Since its inception, the Office has sought to apply the basic principles of Marxism, utilizing the Marxist standpoint, viewpoint, and method to develop a comprehensive, multi-perspective, and forward-looking understanding of the developments and changes in contemporary capitalism. It analyzes the essential characteristics, historical processes, and development trends of contemporary capitalism, as well as its influence on the international communist movement and contemporary world socialism. Additionally, it studies the theoretical and policy adjustments of Western left-wing scholars and political parties in light of the new changes in the contemporary capitalist world system.
