Overview of the Department of Research on the Sinicization of Marxism
The Department of Sinicization of Marxism [1] Research is a department dedicated to studying Mao Zedong Thought, the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, ideological and political education, scientific atheism, as well as the categories, principles, laws, historical processes, ideological systems, and theoretical modalities of the Sinicization of Marxism. Established in 2005, the department consists of the Mao Zedong Thought Research Office, the Research Office for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, the Ideological and Political Education Research Office, and the Scientific Atheism Research Office. Currently, it comprises 19 researchers, including 6 professors (researchers), 6 associate professors (associate researchers), and 7 assistant professors (assistant researchers), with 3 doctoral supervisors and 3 master’s supervisors. The staff includes one National Advanced Worker in Science Popularization and one individual selected for the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program" as a Young Top-Notch Talent [2]. The concurrent Director of the Department is He Xinyuan.
Members of the Department of Sinicization of Marxism Research primarily conduct research in fields such as Mao Zedong Thought, the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, ideological and political education, and scientific atheism. In particular, they have engaged in deepening research regarding the evolutionary process, internal logic, distinct characteristics, and fundamental laws of the Sinicization and modernization [3] of Marxism; the basic categories and fundamental theories of Sinicized Marxism; the structural systems and innovative paradigms of Sinicized Marxism; major theoretical and practical issues as well as topical subjects in the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism; research on Marxist ideological and political education and major realist issues within the ideological and theoretical spheres; and the theory and practice of Marxist atheism, alongside propaganda and education on atheism. Through these efforts, they promote innovative results and make original contributions to the study of the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism.
Department members have presided over more than 50 projects, including National Social Science Fund of China projects (encompassing major, key, general, and youth projects); Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Major Projects, CASS Major Innovation Projects, CASS Marx Engineering (Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project) [4] Major Projects, CASS Major National Condition Survey Projects, CASS National High-End Think Tank Basic Research Projects, CASS Think Tank Basic Research Projects, the CASS "Youth Inspiration Program" (Qingqi Jihua), CASS Philosophy and Social Sciences Innovation Program Key Projects for Academic Publication Subsidies, CASS Youth Center for Humanities and Social Sciences Social Survey Projects, and Central Institute of Socialism United Front High-End Think Tank projects. Among these, National Social Science Fund projects total 20.

Many papers have been reprinted in full by the Renmin University of China Information Center for Postgraduate Resources or featured as viewpoint summaries in Xinhua Digest (Xinhua wenzhai).
The Department of Sinicization of Marxism Research hosts the CASS Scientific Socialism Forum, the Mao Zedong Thought Forum, the Academic Forum on the Sinicization of Marxism, and the Scientific Atheism Forum. Members of the department have repeatedly received the Award for Excellent Policy Information and Recommendations, and have earned titles and awards such as National Advanced Worker in Science Popularization, the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program" Young Top-Notch Talent, CASS Young Top-Notch Talent, and the CASS Young Outstanding Talent Award.
