Research Office for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics

The Research Department for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics currently consists of six researchers, including two professors (researchers), three associate professors (associate researchers), and one assistant professor (assistant researcher). Among them are one doctoral supervisor and two master's supervisors. The current Director of the Research Department is Shen Yang.

The Research Department for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics is committed to studying the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. From the evolutionary logic of the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism, the department conducts in-depth research on Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Important Thought of Three Represents [1], and the Scientific Outlook on Development [2], among other significant theoretical innovations. From the historical perspectives of Party history, the history of New China, the history of reform and opening up, the history of socialist development, and the history of the development of the Chinese nation [3], the department deeply investigates the internal logic and deep-seated laws governing the creation, formation, and development of socialism with Chinese characteristics. From the perspectives of comparing China with the West, the ancient with the modern, and the new with the old, it conducts in-depth research on the necessity and superiority of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Members of the Research Department have presided over nearly twenty projects, including projects of the National Social Science Fund of China, foundational research projects for the National High-End Think Tank of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), CASS think tank foundational research projects, Major National Conditions Survey projects of CASS, the CASS "Youth Inspiration Program" (Qingqi Jihua), key academic publishing grant projects of the CASS Philosophy and Social Sciences Innovation Engineering, social survey projects of the CASS Youth Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, sub-projects of CASS major innovation projects, sub-projects of the Central Project to Study and Build Marxist Theory (Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project) [4], and high-end think tank projects of the Central Institute of Socialism’s United Front [5].

Members of the Research Department for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics have published nearly twenty monographs, including Theoretical Innovation: The Source of Life for a Century of Struggle, Social Construction and Governance in China, Reform and Opening up and Early Practices of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, The Glorious Course: Theory and Practice of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, A Comparison of the Essence of Democratic Socialism and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Research on the Path of China's Rural Collective Economy, Research on the Reform and Development of China's Rural Collective Economy, The Path of Rural Revitalization with Chinese Characteristics, Construction of the System of Grassroots Mass Self-Governance, The Opening of the Path of Revolution with Chinese Characteristics, The Great Social Revolution, and Research on the Construction Mechanism of the United Front Discourse System. They have published over 200 academic papers in journals such as Marxist Studies, Contemporary World and Socialism, Red Flag Manuscript (Hongqi Wengao [6]), Contemporary Chinese History Studies, Scientific Socialism, Studies on Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping Theories, Socialism Studies, World Socialism Studies, Tibet Studies, Seeking Truth (Qiushi), Exploration, Theory and Reform, Ideological and Theoretical Education, Ideological Education Research, and Guangxi Social Sciences, as well as in Guangming Daily and Economic Daily.

Members of the Research Department for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics have repeatedly won the Excellent Policy Information Award and have received honors such as the "CASS Young Talents Award."

This department specifically organizes the Academic Forum on the Sinicization of Marxism. Founded in 2011 and held annually, the forum serves as an important frontier and platform for the study of the Sinicization of Marxism nationwide, exerting a significant influence on the research and disciplinary teaching of the Sinicization of Marxism.
