Online Registration Announcement for 2024 Doctoral Admissions at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
According to the 2024 Doctoral Admissions Prospectus of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS) and relevant work arrangements, our university intends to initiate the doctoral admissions registration process and open the online doctoral registration system on January 10. The specific work requirements are hereby announced as follows:
I. Important Matters
- This announcement is directed only toward mainland Chinese candidates applying to our university. Candidates from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, as well as international students coming to China, shall not participate in this online registration session. Students who have already been accepted by our university as direct-entry doctoral students from the undergraduate level shall proceed according to the relevant procedures of the Ministry of Education's "Recommendation and Waiver Service System" and should not participate in this online registration. Application work for "Master-Doctoral Consecutive Programs" [1] will be notified separately.
- Before registering, candidates should carefully read our university's doctoral admissions prospectus, the doctoral admissions professional catalog, and the implementation plans for the "Application-and-Assessment" [2] system of the relevant departments to confirm whether they meet the application criteria.
- Doctoral registration for 2024 will be conducted via the online submission of application materials. After filling out the registration information online, candidates must upload application materials in the online registration system as required. Registration information that does not submit materials as required or submits incomplete materials will be invalid. Candidates applying via the Unified Entrance Examination [3] do not need to mail physical materials; these should be kept for verification during the re-examination phase. Candidates applying via the "Application-and-Assessment" system should submit materials according to the requirements of the department's admissions work plan. If the applying department has special requirements, please follow those requirements to submit electronic or hard-copy application materials.
II. Registration Time and Website The online registration system will be open from: 9:00 AM on January 10, 2024, to 12:00 midnight on January 31, 2024. The website for the online registration system is: http://yz.ucass.edu.cn/Default.aspx
III. Registration Process
- Confirming Eligibility: Applicants must carefully read the documents of the Ministry of Education, the 2024 Doctoral Student Admissions Prospectus of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the application requirements in the work plans of the departments using the "Application-and-Assessment" system to verify their eligibility.
- Registration and Account Creation: Complete user registration in the UCASS Doctoral Student Registration System (URL: http://yz.ucass.edu.cn/Default.aspx). It is recommended to use the Google (Chrome) browser; ensure you remember your username and password for subsequent logins or inquiries.
- Filling Out Registration Information: (1) Candidates must accurately and thoroughly fill out all registration information items as required. Any consequences resulting from missed entries, errors, or false information—such as the inability to participate in information verification, examinations, admission, or student status registration [4] after enrollment—shall be borne by the candidate. (2) For this online registration session, each candidate may apply for a maximum of two choices within our university; within each department (including the "Key Personnel Program for Marxist Theory" [5]), only one choice is permitted. Please choose your applications carefully; if there is a conflict in the examination schedule for two choices, you may only select one for the examination or assessment. (3) Student status and educational background information are critical for determining whether a candidate meets the national requirements for doctoral application. Candidates must fill these in carefully based on the prompts provided under each item to ensure accuracy.
- Uploading Photos and Identity Verification: (1) Candidates must upload a recent (within three months) front-facing, hatless, makeup-free, one-inch color electronic identification photo (white or blue background, to be used for the admission ticket). The aspect ratio should be 3:4, in jpg or jpeg format, between 20K and 100K in size, with a width of 150–375px and a height of 200–500px. Once uploaded, photos generally cannot be changed; any changes will be subject to the photo downloaded by the university before the examination starts. (2) After the photo is uploaded, the system will automatically complete identity verification. A status of "Real-name match, image judged as the same person" indicates success. If "Real-name mismatch" appears, check the accuracy of the name and ID number; if "Real-name match, image judged as different persons" appears, the photo must be replaced.
- Confirming Application Information and Online Payment: (1) After submitting the registration form, pay the registration fee of 200 RMB online. Please perform online registration and payment in a secure location; losses caused by operator error or leakage of online payment accounts and passwords shall be the responsibility of the candidate. (2) Our university only accepts online payment for registration fees; onsite payments, transfers, or remittances will not be accepted. (3) Registration fees are non-refundable regardless of whether the candidate sits for the examination.
- Uploading Additional Materials: After completing the registration info and paying the fee, candidates must upload additional materials. These must be scanned or photographed into PDF files with clear handwriting, even brightness, and correctly oriented text.
- "Application-and-Assessment" applicants: Scan all materials into a single PDF document in the order required by the department's work plan and upload it to the system.
- Unified Entrance Examination candidates: Scan the following materials into one PDF in order and upload: (1) Registration Information Form for Doctoral Degree Candidates (Downloaded and printed after online registration; candidates must sign the relevant sections, and the study or work unit must provide an opinion consenting to the application and affix their official seal). (2) Valid identification materials: Scans or photos of both the personal information side and the national emblem side of the ID card; additionally, a photo of the candidate holding their ID card (showing the personal info side). The photo should include the arm and upper body; the head and shoulders must be straight, hair must not block the face or cause shadows, and facial features must be visible to ensure all info on the ID is clear. (3) Educational background certificates: ① Graduating master's students [6] must upload a "Certificate of Enrollment" or scans of the personal info and registration pages of their Student ID (must include a photo and registration stamps for every semester). ② Previous graduates (including those with overseas degrees) must upload scans of their master’s level graduation certificates consistent with their registration info (not required for non-degree education master’s holders). (4) Degree information certificates: ① Previous graduates (including overseas degrees and non-degree master's) upload scans of their master’s degree certificates. ② Graduating students and applicants with equivalent educational attainment [7] do not upload this item. ③ Overseas degrees must also include an authentication report from the "Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange" of the Ministry of Education. ④ Applicants with equivalent educational attainment must upload their bachelor's degree certificate (it must be at least six years from the date the degree was obtained to September 1, 2024) and other necessary application materials (must have published two academic papers related to the applied major in professional journals, or have received a scientific research award at the provincial/ministerial level or above in a field related to the applied discipline, ranked in the top three; those in special industries or positions with equivalent research achievements may apply to the University Admissions Office). (5) Two expert recommendation letters provided by professors or experts with equivalent senior professional titles [8] in the field of the applied discipline (see Appendix 1). (6) Original transcripts of undergraduate and master's level studies (provided and sealed by the applicant's university training department) or photocopies (provided and sealed by the personnel department of the unit where the applicant's files are stored). (7) Personal Commitment Letter (see Appendix 2).
- Eligibility Review: During and after the registration period, each department will conduct a preliminary eligibility review (to be completed no later than February 29). Unified Entrance Examination candidates who pass the preliminary review will obtain examination eligibility and may participate in the preliminary unified entrance examination; for "Application-and-Assessment" candidates, passing the preliminary review only confirms meeting basic application conditions for the subsequent "Material Review" phase and does not mean they have entered the "Comprehensive Assessment" stage. Candidates should monitor the system to see if they have passed the review or if supplementary materials are needed; please pay attention to SMS or email prompts from the system.
